| about going to get your childs injections. Im going at 330 for her 12mth ones, not even sure how many she gets this time. Dont think it the mmr just the boosters from her earlier ones. I havent seen the HV since she was 4mths. I stress about what i'l dress her in, how much she will cry when she gets them, how im gona hold her down this time as she so much bigger, how she'l remember it this time and be traumatised, whether her weight/height are going to be ok, if she'll take an allergic reaction, if she'l be unsettled the rest of day..... Can any one remember what their LO's were like getting injections as a toddler. Do they get an assessment done too? My clinic is usually so busy you hardly get time to say hello to HV. I just thought by now they would be checking on motor skills, hearing, speech, centile charts. No one's came near us for nearly 10 mths... I sound a bit neurotic dont I

| OMG. So literally they look them over when they are a tiny baby and dont check again until, well for Caitlin when she is 5??? (July birthday is the oldest in the year in NI). Are you just supposed to pick up on problems yourself? I suppose mums know best and all that but jesus I thought there would be a bit of guidance from HV.... Im really starting to wonder what use they are.... Actually just caught on you may mean pre school eg nursery, even then cause of Caitlins birthday she will be 4! Btw gem your ticker says that leo is only 8mths old lol. Dont know how you popped him out so quick after ollie! xxx |

| Well im back. Was actually pretty simple holding her still and she cried for 2min & then got her dummy & bedtime bear and a choc button and was grand again Much braver than i would have been! Didnt do height or weight & I asked about assessment & HV said they didnt do one until she was 2. She said Id nothing to worry about as Caitlin was walking all round the room and asked if she babbled (she says shoe/sock/mama/dada/cat/look) so says there's no reason I need an assessment. Wish they did her height though. Im curious as to were she is on centile chart. Gonna go hunting for a tape measure and try and do it myself. I know she is healthy and appears normal but it seems a bit silly having a HV until a child is 5 if you only see them for injections that a GP could do.... |

| Glad she got on ok today at her jabs. Wow, that is a long time to wait between checks. Aimee is always being checked at the hospital when she goes for her scans, so they weigh her and do her height. We had somebody do an assessment when she just turned 1, but that was as she was admitted to hospital with gastorentoritis (sp) and they were training somebody so she was just there at the right time I guess x |

| To be fair Laura I suppose Caitlin can get her height and weight done at the dietician/allergy clinic every 4 mths or so if I request it. It just seems a long time for most other babys to go unchecked between 4 mths and 2 years. From a child protection point of view or even checking how mums mental health is for support I think its crap. A 5min consultation for a jab at 12 mths & 15mth doesnt really give much time for that.... |

| I totally agree. Dont they do one at 8 months too? I am sure that Aimee had a doctors appt at 8 months for a check over, and they apparently do that at our surgery for all children x |

| Nope I had nothing at that age. Saw HV a cpl times at home in first few weeks with regards BF & weight gain. Then at 2/3/4mths for her routine jabs at the clinic & then not again until today at 13.5mths. Im pretty sure no one I know here had a check at 8/9mths. I always thought it was at 1ish and HV told me today that the 15mth review I was thinking of had been scrapped. Im in NI btw. x |

| they used to have an 8month check here but its now 12 months. so each area must be different??
with my last 2 it was a proper check at 8 months and just jabs at 12 months, but i was informed at calebs 4 month jabs that they wont be seeing us at 8 months, they will do the 8 months check with the 12 month jabs?!
