Yeyyy im officially a mammy of a toddler - altho Gill has kindly told me i look far too young to be one!!

So since Alfie has turned one (a week ago today) he seems to have turned into a right little bugger and has started having temper tantrums over food. He screams and cries when his food has all gone resulting in him often having second helpings at nursery!!

Im concerned hes eating too much - alot of people comment and say he eats more than they do but hes deff not overweight - he was 22lb 15oz 2 weeks ago and between 50th and 75th centile.

So on an average day he may have:

Morning bottle
Brekkie: 1 slice of toast and butter/jam with grapes or 2 weetabix with half a banana or 2 crumpets
Snack\; Handful or raisins/blueberries
Dinner: Cheese/Ham Sandwiches with yog, biscuit and maybe a cheese triangle
Snack: Breadsticks/ crisps/ jelly / biscotti/ a banana
Tea: 3 fish fingers, 4 smily faces, peas and carrots / small bowl or spag bol / pizza and salad
Nighttime bottle

Sometimes if were munching he takes food off us too. He doesnt seem to be actually eating too much and hes very active but everyone comments saying he eats more than most adults does so has me worried??!!

im not meant to be here yet, but i can assure you elijah eats more than that (i do worry he eats too much though and must get him weighed), it doesn't sound excessive to me!

I think its quite normal hun, Charlie eats a fair amount as well and he's not overweight! He's so active all the time he must need it!

That's not a lot of food hun. Wil's childminder started charging me for his food because he eats so much.

A fairly average day is:
a muller corner yoghurt
slice of toast (or maybe 2)
3/4 pint of milk
glass of orange juice

then he goes to the childminder
breakfast - cereal, more toast & jam, orange juice or milk
snack - cheddars or crisps
lunch - sandwich, sausage roll, yoghurt & fruit
tea - 2/3 sausages, 7-8 smiley faces, chips, a pile of mash or pasta & veg
snack after tea - crisps or a biscuit or 2

snack when he gets home
malt loaf, cheese twists, crisps, cheddars and/or apple or yoghurt
3/4 pint of milk

he also puts away between 1-2 litres of water and juice in a day

Wil is sturdy (2.5 stone, 34lb) but doesn't look fat at all. He is constantly on the go and plays football as much as he can so he needs the food.

That sounds fine to me!

Why on earth do people think that is alot?!

Example of what Izzy has
Breakfast
Bowl of shredded wheat and a large banana
Snack
Pancakes/Muffin etc
Lunch
Sandwiches/Jacket potato etc then a large yogurt or fruit
Snack
Cheese/breadsticks etc
Tea
Whatever we have, tonight was chicken stirfry and a yogurt (which ever she didnt have at lunch)
Supper
Bowl of cereal

All of those are pretty good portions and also she food raids in between quite often, biccies, breadsticks, anything she can find to eat in the pantry lol (attempted an onion yesterday!)

Izzy isn't big at all, she is 50th centile

SO I think what he eats is fine!
