have you thought of maybe a photo piece of some kind?? i would LOVE to get a photobook for a birthday of mine...maybe find some old photos of family and herself and make a photobook of it?? I use photobox all the time i think if you join you get 40 free prints straight away

I can't even remember what I bought my mum and it was only 2yrs ago. Erm does she like jewellery could you buy her a nice necklace/bracelet? Do you have one of those pot painting places near you as they are great to take the girls to to get a personalised gift.
