| Subject: HELP Please.. DNA Test Wed May 18, 2011 5:24 am | |
| About a month ago I found the guy that my mum has always said was my father, so we met up, had a good chat & stayed in touch. We decided to do a DNA test, using Genetrack Biolabs.
I got the results yesterday and it says he is not my father.
I may just be clutching at straws but my heart feels like it's breaking. I wanted to ask if anyone had used DNA testing before. If so, anyone gotten a false result ?
What company did you use & did you find them useful ?
I'm asking for a bit of help choosing a 2nd company as we've decided to take another 1 because it's unbelievable, I look like him (spitting image of him when I was a baby) - and our mannerisms are SO similar.
Any help ?
Ps. Sorry for the long post. |

| Im so sorry that this isnt the result you were wanting/expecting. I have no experience of DNA testing, but surely they state that they are something like 1 in a million or something. To be 100% sure, I would meet up with him and both do the swabs at the same time and post them off. I really do hope that it was an error and that the second one comes back correct. x |

| Aww hun I'm sorry you didn't get the result you wanted and for everything you are going through. I did forensic science at uni, a big part of that was genetic profiling and to be perfectly honest with you hun - unless the samples were mixed up or tampered with then a negative is a conclusive result. Where paternity tests are concerned it is impossible to give a 100% positive match but a negative is usually a definate I really don't want to give you false hope by saying it could be a mistake because it is highly unlikely. If you think the company you used could be dodgy then by all means try another. xx |

| Well this is the the thing.. For starters, me & this guy weren't "together" when the swabs were taken.
This company is also in Canada so I can't garantee that they weren't contaminated on the way, I don't know if customs checked them out or what.
Also, the day I took my swabs, I had been drunk the night before & the next day when I took the swabs my mouth was dry as hell.. Would that have made a difference ?
My mum says she can't remember having been with anyone else, so it's him, or that's the end of the search. |

| Don't CSA do DNA tests when dads deny the child is theirs? Could you maybe contact them and see if they can tell you the company they use? Also another option could be asking your gp if they can recommend? Lol failing that Jeremy Kyle I hope you get the answers you need! |
