My sil had my niece 8 weeks ago and is struggling at the moment with her as she is feeding every hour but only taking about an ounce. She is breastfed but also with expressed milk so that they can see what she is taking. She has tried leaving her for longer but she is obviously starving but struggles to take milk in. She isn't putting on weight and seems to be full of wind and my sil is exhausted The doctor thinks it might be reflux but she isn't being sick but it could be silent reflux. They live abroad so the doctor hasn't been much use and they have only been given infacol which isn't doing anything. Any suggestions are very much appreciated! xxx

Is she struggling to take milk from bf or bottles.? Could be a few things. If bottles try a faster teat as L was the same it was taking ages for him to have a small amount. Usually if it's reflux they would be in some pain whilst feeding. Have they checked for Tongue tie? As this can make feeding difficult. Maybe try a different bottle? Bf if you have a fast let down it could be a prob, I had this as well and milk would come out to fast and they would struggle with it. Google it for further info. I would deff go back and see a doc if not putting on weight.

I agree def try a faster teat, on the BF sometimes expressing a little bit first can make it easier for the baby
