| Dexter is constantly screaming, tried feeding him but he sucks a few times then comes off screaming - he is getting some because when he comes off milk is squirting out, thought maybe wind so put him on my shoulder to wind him but he's just screaming and sucking on my shoulder, what would you do?? Its driving me mad, been going on for 2 hours now and poor Libby is getting fed up with it too |

| Dummy?
It sounds to me like he just needs the comfort and control of sucking something.
Alternatively he may be hungry but struggling to get enough. My sister had problems when she BFed my niece because she was a greedy little sod and the boobies couldn't keep up with demand. Just a thought. |

| I wish I had some advice hun. We had major problems with Lily in the first 8 weeks but it turned out she didnt get on with SMA Gold so I changed her to Aptimil. Although bf shouldnt be causing the same problems. Does he have a dummy? x |

| Thanks for replying ladies. I'm thinking maybe wind/colic so will try Dentinox in a sec. He wont have a dummy, despite trying one everyday I think he gets enough milk as this is the first time that hes refused it and when he pulls off it squirting out all over the place. Hes got a stinking cold at the moment too, poor thing |

| Maybe he can't breathe through his nose with him having a cold and panicks when he starts to feed, I know harry used to do that and it used to scare him so he would scream for a bit. He may be old enough for calpol nasal spray for his nose it clears it up really well!! xx |

| yeah i would definitely say its probably to do with his stuffy nose, i used to get worried my boob would suffocate elijah when it was full and he was all squished into it so i guess a cold is the same, i hope he has calmed down by now. you could try a different position (rugby hold? might be better and keep his nose clearer although i could never manage it haha). also if he is sniffly his tummy might be a bit upset too.
hope it passes, surely it cant be coincidence that he is off colour and suddenly this has happened? it does sound like your supply is fine. also he couldn't be cutting a tooth could he? or have a look for thrush in his mouth as that can make them uncomfy but it doesn't sound like it really x |

| Well I gave him dentinox and he calmed down, tried feeding him and he started again, had been trying him on my right boob so thought I'd try him on my left and he fed Just had to express my right as I felt like it was explode and he is now fast asleep on my shoulder - peace at last I think it was a combo of wind and not feeling well with this cold,I could hear his little tummy gurggling when he was feeding, bless him. Thanks again ladies xxxx |

| ohhh i just remembered - if your boob is reaaaaaally full, it can come out too fast when you are feeding and lo cant manage, if it happens again and you feel your boob is full i remember i used to hand express just to take the pressure off into the sink (glamorous!). funny how quickly you forget!!! |
