Just wondering, do you eat at the same time as your LO? or do you all eat separately?

I've always made a conscious effort to eat at the same time as O, as its got me into the routine of eating 'meals' too. We sit and have lunch together and on an evening we all sit down as a family and eat our main meal together.

Last week OH was on lates so it was just me and O at tea time, then Fri, Sat, Sun my mum comes round for tea too. Anyway, he sat and made a proppa effort with each meal this particular week..then this past week OH's been on earlies and has sat down with us for tea..que O creating and refusing to eat! Rolling Eyes OH said 'I think its me Shocked ' I said he was being silly and that its probably a coincidence (cos he still does it when its just me at the table)

Yesterday at lunch time I sat him down for his lunch and I sat down too, O started creating straight away (I never rise to it and just ignore the negative behaviour). I ate my lunch and finished, I left the table and started washing up - Oliver then started to eat his dinner Shocked . So lastnight I served O's tea up fisrt and sat him down to eat, he was eating fine then me and OH sat down and he suddenly started refusing his tea Mad

So after my mega ramble i've come to the conclusion that O prefers to eat on his own scratch
I actually don't like that fact that he eats separate to us, I have this thing in my head and like us all to sit down together - its important to me :(Am I being selfish?

How do your meal times go? do you all sit and eat together or at different times?

We all eat together from sunday-friday but saturday is take away night and we like to have it when she (now they) is in bed. We'll sit with her, she will usually have a bowl of pasta and does generally eat most of it - but she does like pasta so thats probably why.

Personally I wouldnt stop eating together - like you its important to me that we eat together. Maybe its just one of those annoying phases and he'll be out of it soon, but I would definately persevere.

xx

Thanks Suse. I don't want to stop eating together, but its like he gets way to distracted by others at the table and he refuses to eat. Its been going on over a year (thinking back) so not sure if its just a little phase.
He always eats best when were not eating or we're doing something else scratch

could you sit and sort of face away from him and see if he will eat then? :/

Tyler eats better if we al eat together but sometimes he eats on his own too if we're having something we don't want to give him x

I'd serve O's up first so he has a head start then join him at the table once he has eaten a fair bit.

They are awkward little sods these kids of ours. Rolling Eyes

Wil will tuck into his own dinner until he thinks someone has got something better than him and then he wants that instead so we generally make sure we have the same as him.

I also have to watch what else is available to eat on the table - the garlic bread has to stay away until he has eaten most of his dinner or he fills up on that instead of proper food. Crisps are the same - no crisps on show until the sandwich is gone.

Oliver's like that Gil, If he see's something that someone else has or there's sauce or bread at the table he'll create merry-hell till he gets it even if he already has it on his plate Mad

I've tried that Jade..lol, I think i've tried every way possible tbh.

I think i'll do what you suggest Gill and let him have a head start before we sit down to eat. Only thing is (cos we did it last night) is that he eats all the good stuff whilst were pottering, so by the time we sit down with him he only has his veg left Rolling Eyes and thats when the paddy's start..but hay-hoo at least he's eating something Laughing
