Does anyone use these with your LO's, if so what for? Do you have more than one or just a general 'good behaviour' one. Today O was at nursery and when I went to pick him up the teacher said he'd been really good today- no tears etc (he's still settling in you see) anyhoo, she gave him a sticker and he was sooooooo pleased with it. So I kept saying 'its cos you been a good boy and done 'excellent' at school today' So nana and gramps came round this eve and he was showing them too. So it got me thinking of doing a reward type chart thingy for him..such as good behaviour at home and school and his eating maybe What do you think? Would you do 1 overall reward chart or 2 different ones? ie; behaviour & eating?

Hi Zee Funny you bring this up Neil and I have been chatting about it. We started a sticker chart for potty training when she started this week and had itso that for each wee/poo she got a sticker and after 5 stickers she earned a freddo bar. She hit it every day thisweek and filled her whole chart so she got a reward for filling the chart but tbh last 2 days ive not bothered with the freddo as shes more excited by the stickers (we got buzz lightyear ones) and demands 'ticker!' as shes coming back down the stairs! We are probably only doing 1 more week on the potty sticker chart as shes been dry 2 days running now but we thought it had been so successful we are going to implement one. We thought about good behaviour vs eating and decided a general good behaviour one would do the job so if she eats well it classes as good behaviour or if she puts her toys away when we ask etc she gets a stciker and after so many (rather than a weekly chart just so many boxes eg 20) she will get a treat (we bought a shed load of stuff from poundland and have been letting her pick something out the treat bag, she earned 2 this week on top of her freddos, one for a whole dry day and 1 for completing a weeks chart). That way shes not got loads of charts on the go and gets rewards for her behaviour more often (they are only small so its not a huge thing) which helps as toddlers are so instant gratification, it also associates trying her best with her food as a good thing, we dont expect her to clear her plate just try hard. Id deffo give it a try, lemme know how you get on as we arent starting it for another week or so til the potty ones completed so as not to confuse her. On another note i reccomend poundland/99p shop for stickers i got 200 toy story ones for a pound and i made my own chart and laminated it at home so it was personalised to her which she got even more escited about than the generic one i started out with.

We had one for potty training too. Never thought of doing one for behaviour, sounds like it will work a treat for Oliver so go for it! xx

I would do one general one too and maybe next to it you could just have a bright colourful list of good behaviours so that he know what will earn him stickers? you could make the good behaviours list with him too so that he's more involved in it and will have some say in what is classed as good x

| Sticker charts have worked well for a cpl of my friends. As well as treats from pound shop like Mario suggested, a friend of mine had rewards like - picking what you wanted for tea one night eg Happy Meal lol, a trip to park, swimming, the cinema, friend over to play (this child was 3 or 4 at the time mind)
Id prob do just one chart. Id be a bit wary of doing one specifically for eating incase you turned it into more of an issue than it already is. He may get upset that he hasnt been hungry and lost a sticker and may start to see food as something upsetting or get him more anxious at meal times trying to get a sticker (I could be talking bollocks though, I know what I mean in my head)
Id incorporate eating into a universal chart and if he does particularly well at a meal, even trying something new, give him one as an extra surprise. x

Thanks ladies, you given me some brill idea's there..I was wondering if 2 charts would be too much and Snoopy, your totally right about the whole eating reward chart..I don't want to make the situation any worse than what it is already. I've got a few little cars that are going to go in his reward bag and i'll get him some haribo's too cos they are his faves and i'm going to stock up on £ shop trinkets too We've made a little chart this aft (as the weather was too pants to go to the park) Its got oooodles of glue on, as that was his job lol - so i might do a few different charts so its a different one each time and make it more like an exciting game How many squares/sticker do you reckon before the reward? I've done 12 on this chart, is that too many or too few? Thankies for your help everyone

Haha, I only did 12 cos thats all I could fit on after all the glue and decor I'll probably use this as our trial run and then take it from there. I'm thinking he'll probably average at about 3/4 stickers a day, so that'd be a treat every 3+ days (twice a week'ish)
