Is it normal to slide backwards _
PostSubject: Is it normal to slide backwards   Is it normal to slide backwards EmptySat Jun 11, 2011 8:11 pm

Cos c did so well during her 1st week of potty training maybe i relaxed too much. Before thurs she had had 3 straight dry days but i dunno if me going back to work thurs upset the balance. On thurs when neil had her she wet herself in her pull up 3 times even though he was asking her if she needed to go she was telling him no. I suggested to him he didnt ask just took her and that he used her pants intead of pull ups

So next day i took her even when she said no and we were back to 1 accident yesterday but today shes just had 2 accidents in 20 mins. The first to be fair i hadnt taken her in over an hour so i probably should have reminded her but the second was only 20 mins later.

Its not that i expect her to be dry yet or owt cos its only been about 11 days so far so shes doing incredibly i guess she was just doing so well beginning of this week its thrown me shes suddenly had a blip and not sure if its usual or me going bac to works upset her a bit

Chloe's been exactly the same, she started brilliantly, had about two weeks where she did great, then went back to wetting herself all the time, so we stopped, left it for a month or so, then tried again, the second time was much easier, and we had a month with no accidents, even being able to go out all day and her use the toilets and no accidents, then since last Saturday she's been having accidents every day, she had 3 yesterday, I'm not going to stop this time though, I've explained to her today that I want her to use the toilet/potty and have made a big fuss everytime she's been as we'd kind of stopped doing that as she was doing so well.

Anyway, kind of went of on my own ramble there, but in answer to your question, yes I think it is normal, some children get there straight away, other's take a bit longer, she'll get there in the end x

Yep, same here. O has been potty trained since beginning of the year now and I was amazed how well he took to it all and how quick the whole process was.

We still have blips every so often though, like this aft he tinkled (not wee'd fully) in his pants 3 times in a space of 1hr because he didn't want to come in from the garden.

Lately when we go shopping he demands a wee as soon as we get in the store, even though he's literally been 5mins before, he used to hold it but now he just lets rip Rolling Eyes .
We only ever use pull-ups now when he's at nursery, and that was only because it was all new surrounding etc, but he's not we them yet so will prob stop with them soon too.

With C, it could be with you returning to work - especially if your the one who's mainly been 'training' her. Is she usually mid-play when she wets? Oliver has these moments where he does the wee dance whilst he's playing, ask him to go to the loo and he refuses - so we have to physically put him on the toilet cos he just won't break off what he's doing.

I'm quite sure these little blips will happen for a fair while yet..I actually think they will probably have the odd mishaps for a few years..especially until they are 100% trained day and night.

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Well it took about 3 days to get back on track so was worried about working monday but shes been dry for 3 straight days now even when i was at work she asked/got taken with neil so i t5hink shes back to her usual routine but at least if she has a blip again i know its normal.

Neils also making more effort not to wait for her to ask but be more proactive with her and taking her as soon as she asks or asking her/taking her though hes still putting her in pull ups where i use pants at hgome and only pull ups for going out but i think thats confidence with him (and being lazy cos he doesnt wanna deal with wet clothes)

And 2nd time in a fortnight shes woken up dry this morning so shes been promised a treat today. I suppose for 2.5 weeks in i cant complain shes doing fab really
