how will i cope? _
PostSubject: how will i cope?   how will i cope? EmptyMon Sep 13, 2010 5:15 am

start my new job on tuesday, its only 20 hours but its 9-1 mon-fri
i know it doesnt seem like a very big deal but i havent ever spent that much time away from Iris, and tho she is settled in nursery for the 1 day a week she will be there, i feel like im really letting her down and that she might forget all the special time we have had together.
i am in a way looking forward to this new job, i think it will be exciting, but a big dirty cloud is being cast over it by thinking how much i will miss her and not be there for her.
i tried to speak to greg but he jsut said id be fine and to get on with it.
sorry just had to let it out

You will be grand! I understand how anxious you are though. I work 20 hrs a week, thankfully my mum comes here on a mon and wed when I work the evening & puts Caitlin to bed, she goes to her nana(MIL) on a tue & thur afternoon and my mum has her again on a mon morning. I know its maybe different because she is with family but I really believe kids can benefit from a lil time away from their parents. I stressed about leaving Caitlin but generally she waves bye bye without a 2nd thought. She loves her trips to the park/town with her nana, my mum spoils her rotten with 15 bedtime stories etc and i havent noticed her behaviour changing with me.

I really dont think Caitlin misses me when Im at work. I think its harder on parents than it is on the LO's. Iris will love the interaction with the other kids and learn so much. I would have liked Caitlin to go to a nursery but there were no places available at the time.

Try and enjoy your new job. It will be great for you to do something for yourself for a change, plus think of the extra £££ you will have to spoil Iris! how will i cope? Icon_biggrin

I agree totally with Snoopy. it will be so much fun to mix with other toddlers, she will love it. It also makes the time you are with her more quality and special because you have missed her. When i went back to work it wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be. x

She will definitely be fine then hun! Honestly your mum & greg will be great with her on their own. I think family relax more when they have LO's without us mummys watching over if you get me. My FIL loved it when I started letting him take Caitlin on afternoons out instead of sitting in our living room sipping coffee for 2hrs. They get to bond better and he spoils her silly. Even my OH I think plays better with Caitlin when Im out of the room cos Im not there to tell him not to do something eg "dont tire her out", "thats a bit rough", "she'l be sick" Caitlin loves her daddy tickles though and being spun round upside down how will i cope? Icon_rolleyes how will i cope? Icon_lol . Its nice for them to get quality time too and feel needed. xxx

I'm sure you will be fine hun. If anything you will miss her and really appreciate each other when you see her.

Good luck hun
