how do you spell...

now we finally know we're having a baby boy we can pick names, I like finlay/finley but can't decide what spelling is better... I would say it FINLEE so is finlay wrong? I don't want people to spell it wrong if we chose it but Finley doesn't look right when I write it haha.

so what do other people think is the right way?

If you want FinLEE I would spell it Finley
Spelt with an 'A' it'd be FinLAY <<< Pmsl, that makes no sense but I know what I mean Laughing

Finlay is the way I think its meant to be spelt. However these days anything goes and its whatever you prefer. In saying that do you wana spend forever spelling it for people/correcting things? x

It would make sense if you're going to say it Fin-lee that you would spell it Finley but I know what you mean it looks weird, and i feel like it should be spelt Finlay. I'd go for Finley though as people will probs spell it that way as its said that way

see I don't think Finley looks right and think Finlay is correct BUT know that people will spell it wrong or call him Fin LAY ... I can't win can I !?

^don't think so hun.. Maybe just go with Finn. That's my cousins name cause Aunty wanted Finlay/Finley and Uncle wanted Finbarr so they decided to compromise with just Finn.

if I saw it spelt Finley I'd still say Finlay. I'd just spell it Finlay and pronounce it the way you want to Very Happy

but really what I'd do is call him Finn cos I LOVE that name Wink

I was just going to say people (or himself when he grows up) will call him Finn lol.
I've tried to keep Oliver as Oliver and not Ollie, but I know as he gets older it'll 'Ollie' more and more Sad

I have a thing against calling kids by shortened names (not as a nickname or something they pick.. thats fine) but I couldn't christen him Finn lol so I still need to pick one

Lol I feel a bit like that too Jade. I prefer have a long name that can be shortened if child wants too. I like to call my cousin Finnigan just to confuse things even more Laughing

Yup totally agree with Zee, it depends which you want as they are different names!

Personally I prefer Finley FinLEE!

most ones i know are spelt findlay but we spelt our finlay just be abit different, i prefer finlay to finley xx
