I like Next as much as the next person but I'm starting to get really pissed off with being told at car boots/baby sales/baby selling websites that an item of clothing is more expensive 'because it is Next you know'. I don't think Next is that much better quality than a lot of other clothing retailers so it really winds me up. Half the time the Next clothes don't look any better than others the people are selling. It's confusing. Is it a snob thing? I just walk away and laugh now when people say the phrase 'it is Next you know'.

i have to be honest until i fell pregnant and was searching for maternity clothes in my size and was shocked to find next did them in my size and then to find that they actually do plus sizes i've never really shopped in there.

looked for rich on occasioin but always thought asda were cheaper and sometimes better.

i've brought a couple of things for the boys from there, but thats because i have a voucher.

perhaps it is a snob thing, but i dont think they any differnt to other shops to be honest, maybe a bit more expensive.

I know what you mean, they are a high street chain - its not as if its baby dior etc!

Next I do think are better quality but than Tesco, and a bit more expensive. If there were 2 T-shirts at a carboot id pay for example £1 for a Tesco/asda one and £1.50-£2 for a Next one (Only because the Next one prob cost twice the price in the 1st place). Next have cheaper things in atm but and I was shocked to see gorgeous lil girls coats for only £22 this year which I think is very reasonable.

I think ppl are insane but if they think Next are 'designer' !

I think it is a bit of snobbery.
I get that yes it was probs more expensive in the first place and if i were looking at two similar tops from primark and next i'd be willing to pay a bit more for the next one (altho i'd probs pick the primark one lol) but I don't get when people try and sell an overwashed/dirty/old looking bit of clothing for more just 'cause it's next'. I've even seen people seperate their next clothing when selling at car boots. What is that about?

I tend to shop at next but only because I struggle to find trousers that fit (I tend to be an inbetween size) and they also fit better. Has to be said I don't go near primark nowadays but that's because our one crams so much in that I can't be bothered to fight my way round. Also tend to avoid new look as well because I feel too old for it so tend to shop at next and dorothy perkins on the high street but often pick up tops at tesco and sainsburys.

Don't get the whole car boot sale thing though

i do find little ones clothes at next are good quality, but so are john lewis, mamas and papas, marks and spencer and slightly more hit or miss but tesco! i wouldn't make a song and dance out of it......im also not sure why next would be considered posh - where i come from a catalogue that you pay up every month is pretty erm common Laughing although it is handy Wink

im with char on this though, h&m is the way to go for little boy clothes - its hard finding cute stuff but i loooooooooove h&m Very Happy (as you can tell from pics of elijah Wink)

I think it must be snobbery as i don't think the quality is that much better than other places, i have had stuff from sainsburys for Lily that i think is as good. The best quality stuff i have had is from John Lewis x

Get yourself to some car boots people seriously do it.

I love H&M stuff, i quite like getting Immi fashionable (within reason) things rather than baby baby things and i think h&m do a great range and at a fairly decent price.

I've never really shopped in John Lewis, will have to have a look.

Not sure. I find most shops sell the same type of clothes just slightly altered patterns.

Izzy has as many things from Next as she does from M&S and Asda and H&M and now has some Primark.....and to be perfectly honest there isn't a great deal of difference between any of them

Yes the likes of Next & M&S are better quality than the likes of Asda & Primark...but I don't see that they are that much better to justify the price difference, you can get a whole outfit in Primark (Ive only shopped there once as we dont have one here, but Im sure its always the same) for the price of one item in Next

I have never worn through or outwashed an item of clothing for Izzy, regardless of what it cost me - so I just do not see that they are that much better. If I like something in M&S I get it, if I like something is Asda I get it.

Its similar that StartRite have just opened in my town, well in the baby boutique...but at £36 for a pair of shoes that looked identical to a pair of Clarkes shoes for £10 cheaper...why would I pick StartRite?! (aprt from the fact I hate clarkes!)

tbh i do think next and h+m m+s debenhams etc are better quality then the supermarkets from my experience. They wash better and last a lot longer.... butttttt 2nd hand is 2nd hand, surely it doesnt matter how it started off its what kind of condition its in now?!

I buy loads from Next for me simply because I know they fit and I never have time to try things on as Ellie is usually misbehaving. I also buy alot for Ellie as I do like the little girl clothes and I don't think its that expensive for kids. i certainly wouldnt class is as designer stuff, its deffo in the same league as Asda, Tesco etc.

I agree with Penny I buy alot of stuff for myself from Next as I can buy without trying on as I know their sizes fit me.

I also get most of Bethany's stuff from there or M&S but I've also had nice things from Asda and Tesco and I wouldn't say there is much difference in quality xx
