Aimee is going on her potty every time when she hasnt got a nappy on (not overly there with poo as she usually does this after her nappy has been put on for bed, but we can deal with that later).

So... I have popped some pants on her now (just pants) to see if she will pull them down and remember to go. We have had a couple of accidents when I have tried to put pants on before.

She refuses to wear pull ups and would rather wear a napp (no idea why).

She is nowhere near ready to tell me that she needs to go when we are out in public yet, so I dont really know where to go from here... any ideas? x

Quick update... after typing this she poo'd in her pants x

Personally I'd stick with what she is happy with for a bit...and try again with the pull ups in a bit?


I didn't rush Izzy, just let her do it in her own time and she is now dry day, night and when we go out...and does wees and poos herself no prompting...so for us letting her decide when worked wonders

Thanks Lisa, that is what I was thinking of doing, but I wasnt sure if I was holding her back or not. Its good to hear that it has worked for somebody else.

She will be at my mums and pre school in the mornings after Wednesday as I go back to work, so its probably best not to push her too much with those changes happening.

I would really like her dry by Xmas, or at least the baby's arrival in 3.5 months, so we will try letting her do it on her own for a bit x

I can't really recall how long it took...but I just looked back on here and end of June she started to use the potty, I think it was about another month before she was dry in the day, then another month, maybe a bit more, til she was dry at night...and oddly the last to come was dry when we went out!


So I *think* in total her doing it at her own speed took 2 month? maximum 3 months?

I agree just go with the flow. I didn't want 2 in nappies and I rushed her. This caused no end of problems especially with the poo thingxx
