How often should they poo?
Josh only seems to poo every 5days or something like that.. I'm guessing thats not enough, I had to help him get it out on monday by pushing his legs up so I think he must be constipated. I know Imogen only ever pooed ever other day but 5days must be too long? Should I take him to the health clinic, its on from 10-12 but Imogen is being a complete moo this morning, don't know if i can face trying to get her to walk up with me, but worried about Joshua so I think I'm just going to have to go.

elijah wasn't a great poo-er, he would often take 5 days and we were told that unless he went 10+ days they wouldn't do anything (in fact i think it was 14 days). the longest he ever went was 8 days and that was quite a poo-splosion when it actually happened, and he was obviously in pain.

i don't think they will offer him anything but i do think for bf babies 5 days is ok - hopefully he will grow out of it soon, elijah did eventually end up going once a day while still bf

Yup in BF babies its normal! They can either go 8 times a day lol or once a week! Caitlin once went about a week without going and holy good god did I know about it when she went Laughing She certainly wasnt constipated because it was erm... very loose when she went lol.

A baby at the BF support group I went to didnt go for 10-12 days and was fine. Something to do with BM being natural and easily absorbed so less waste product to get rid of or some thing. Very Happy

I just got back from the drop in clinic (I asked about poo too! Laughing must be the day for it) And they said exactly what Snoop said, and that it's quite common for breastfed babies to go less often. Obviously if they look in pain or pass hard poos, it's not good, but if they don't seem in pain, it's generally ok. Noah poos about once every two or 3 days. Hope that helps!

thanks ladies for replies. I ended up going to clinic just cause i needed to leave the house, Imogen was driving me crazy. Hv wasn't concerned, just wants me to watch out and see if he's in pain when pooing/trying to poo. Guess i'm just lucky i don't have to change poo nappies every 5mins
