Hi ladies,

Im noticing that a lot of mummies with toddlers of a similar age to Isla are putting their children in big beds.......How do u know when they are ready???

Isla is still in her cot, in a sleeping bag, with no pillow or anything!!!!

Am i well behind????? How do I start the transition????? Or if shes ok, shall I do nothing yet?????

Isla still doesnt 'self soothe' when she goes to bed.....im assuming i have to crack this first?

Your not behind hun.

If Isla is happy in her cot then there is no need to move her just yet. As for the pillow thing, they dont have to have a pillow when they move into a bed if your not comfortable until she is older.

I think around 18 months - 2 years is the average age to go in a bed. Personally Sam went into his because he kept climbing out of the cot. He is probably too young for a bed yet but i had no choice.

Sam was self soothing in the cot but as soon as he went into a bed the crying has started again so i am just laying with him. TBH he only takes about 5 mins to get to sleep now.

He also went from cot and sleeping bag with no pillow to big bed with pillow and quilt.

I agree with Mara - there is no rush!

Izzy is only going to her big bed soon because she can almost climb out, how she hasnt yet I don't know! Also her nursery is too small for a bed, her cot is against a wall and she picks the paper off! Monkey

Lisa, I wouldn't worry hunni, we only moved Oliver cos his cot was so small and he's all tall and ganggly Drunk He kept bang himself and getting his limbs caught.

They say about 2-3yrs is average age for the transition. Only earlier if they are at risk.

We moved Chloe because she kept getting her fat little legs caught in the bars Laughing

She's always been good at self-soothing and has had a pillow and a duvet for a few months now. I agree with the others, if she's quite happy in her cot, leave her there as long as possible x
