Just so that you can have easy access to your friends for PM's etc and so that you can see at a glance who's online.

If someone is on your Foe's list I think it hides their posts from you. Not sure though

Yup just what Lisa said! Its very useful in PMs as your friends come up in the drop down list!

Also note the groups drop down - you can PM for example all the mods if you dont know who is on - although you'd be quicker using the report button!!!!
