soooooo elijah's megabloks train that i got him for christmas stopped working already, have returned it to amazon and will get the £20 back, so im in two minds as to wether to replace it or not as he has a lot of toys just now...

he loves his other brio stuff and its very good quality, just wondering if i should be going for more shiny/flashy/noisy types of toys...am i being selfish by liking the wooden one more?

if he has lots of toys just now maybe hold off and get something for the summer ? x

Tbh if he has loads of toys I'd just keep the money for a while and buy something when he needs it.

However brio is great and well worth the money so if you really it, then go for it

I don't think it's selfish at all tbh hun.

Having an older brother Hannah has access to both types of train set (infact just about any type of train you can think of ) and although she thinks the ones that move themselves are wonderful she gets bored after about a minute of sitting watching it go round and gets far far more enjoyment out of the wooden set that she can move herself and take apart and put the track back together herself etc. The plastic flashy electric ones tend also to be one trick ponies and once you've built the track and watch it go round you're done whereas the wooden ones can be made into different shapes and added to and made bigger etc.

Go for the wooden one!

I agree with the others, go with the brio set. Oliver loves his. And agree with what debs said, flashy colourful gadgets really aren't 'all that' and they do soon loose interest.

Things like the brio (wooden train set) you can build them up more and more which always sparks their interest again and again

thanks ladies, i do love brio and its so sturdy its worth the extra i think...

i think maybe i will keep an eye on it and see if its in a sale (never seems to be bah!) then either get it in a few months or wait til his birthday (gulp!!!)

We have the Tescos wooden railway set (a tenner) supplemented with various bigs of Bigjigs stuff (bought through Amazon). Probably not as good quality as Brio but it is fine. Seb plays with it all the time and Anna destroys it all the time - although she is starting to put a train on the track and run it along.
