It's so difficult deciding isn't it. I think if I wasn't married I'd give my kids my name, but I am married so Ellie has her daddy's name. When it suits me I use my married name but generally I kept my old name so Ellie and I have a different name even though I'm married to her dad. When we go abroad I usually make oh take Ellie passport control as they have the same name Smile (first time abroad I even told him that Ellie must sit on his knee during the flight as he was legal guardian)lol Some double barrelled names sounds really good but I think sometimes they can sound a bit naff.

I took Oh's name when we married so both kids have oh's name too. I like the thought of double barrelled if it sounds good but some sound terrible. I was glad to get rid of my maiden name as no one could ever pronounce it/spell it so I never thought of double barrell

i gave my two sam's surname as i knew we'd be married eventually...tbh it felt horrid having a different name to my kids, but i could have just taken on his name if i'd felt that strongly about it
now we're married it feels so much better to all have the same name.

I took Adam's name when we married even though I hate it and prefer my old surname so Jamie just has that. My Mum and Dad didn't get married until I was a year and Mum gave me her name as she said she did all the hard work. Dad then had to take me to court and adopt me (even though he was my biological Dad) to change my surname although all they do is reissue your birth certificate. My sister gave her first her oh's name but they were engaged.

yes its a difficult one, me and my oh r not married and i dont think we ever will i would but he isnt interested, Riley does still have his name but not has a surname so he's just known has Riley Hardy (my surname) i was put off because someone said it didnt go has together but i didnt think it sounded bad (but maybe because id been saying it in my head a while before) anyway it would have been Riley Ali-hardy wot do u think, honestly? i dont even know wot we r having next yet anyway so the name we decide might not go so might leave it anyway, i just wanted some opinions, plus if ever we did get married i said id have double name or keep my own Smile Smile

We double barrelled and will do the smae with this one, but will change, should we ever get married (hmm, doubtful, as already been together twelve years! LOL)

So he is ALi and you are Hardy? Think maybe it sounds better if other way round, so hardy-ali. If you do decide to go for it.

It is a difficult one though. I chose double barelled because we arent married and i wanted her to be able to have both our names recognised. Can be a bit anoying at times though when like at hte library and i havent got her ticket and i say my name so they immediately look her up as smith and isnt there coz her name is a combo, or when the docs just sompletely fail to acknowledge the double barrel or Dave's name altogether!

Still plenty of time to decide!

Mandy xx

Ollie has OH's surname which will be mine soon (unfortunately!) I did think about having mine as double barrelled but I've been told you have to do it by deed poll rather than it just changing when you marry as it does normally?!

I changed my name before Chloe was born by deed poll, so all of us have the same surname, more because I wanted to be rid of my husbands surname than anything else.
