Am I being unreasonable? _
PostSubject: Am I being unreasonable?   Am I being unreasonable? EmptyMon Sep 20, 2010 2:17 am

Oh god I just don't know where to begin....

I'm due to start work next week and my OH has just spent all weekend working out in the garden and going back and forth to the tip. I've been left to look after Matthew all weekend. I understood that yesterday he had to work on the garden as he had 4 tons of soil delivered and it needed to be moved, but he was so knackered he was in bed by 9pm.

Today I left him to have a lay in this morning and when he got up at 10.30 he told me he was going back out to finish all the jobs. I asked him how long it would take and he said about 3 hours. I wasn't too happy but thought at least we'd get to spend some time together as a family this afternoon however it is now 4pm and he's still doing it.

I really wanted to spend some quality family time together before i go back to work as my off duty so far has a lot of shifts at the weekend on it. I decided to go and speak to him about it and he just said 'i want to get this done' and walked off. I started to get upset and asked if he'd come and talk to me so i could explain, i knew it wouldn't change anything but i wanted him to understand why I was upset.

He said 'well i've not been able to go to the tip all week because of you so i've had to do it now'. The reason he's not been able to go all week is i've hurt my back and i've been given diazepam to help with the muscle spasm, however because of the side effects of drowsyness and generally being spaced out etc i've not wanted to take them when i've been alone with matthew in case i fell asleep or he hurt himself on something as i've not been with it.

I tried saying that I understood some jobs needed doing but the tip runs could have waited till another day but he just kept saying 'i want to get it finished today'.

This ended up in a shouting match in front of matthew that i'm so upset about, Rich buggering off to the tip and me locking him out, crying and moaning on here

Am i being unreasonable to want to really enjoy the last few days off i have before work starts again? should i just have kept my mouth shut?

and i can't believe i got angry in front of matthew, i've never done that before.

Thanks, i guess i'm just frustrated that i've waited in all day as well when mathew and i could have done something instead. I'm sure some of my upset is coming from anxiety about leaving matthew at nursery and going back to work as well.

You are not being unreasonable at all. I can see that he would want to get it done, esp if he works in the week (? Not sure if he does).

I can imagine you are anxious about going back tomorrow so emotions are running high. Have a quiet night with him tonight and cuddle on the sofa x
