Jamie wants to walk everywhere now. I'm prepared to work slowly (especially as he runs everywhere anyway so isn't too bad) but how do you get them to walk in the direction you want to? If we hold his hands he does but generally he refuses, pulls his hands away and sits on the floor. On his reigns his happy to run around but rarely goes the way we want. His only allowed to walk when we're both there at the mo because we still take the pushchair so we've tried turning it into a game and getting him to chase Daddy which works some of the time. We also give him warnings and eventually he goes back in the pushchair if he doesn't. Is there anything we can do or is it just getting him used to it?

i think its just a matter of teaching him im afraid,i did the same, went back into the pushchair after a couple of warnings and eventually they both learnt to walk really nicely with me.
I now take them both walking to the shops on my own so its deff paid off lol

Ellie is a monkey for this and is a nightmare when we're out. She has reigns and back pack reigns but likes to walk on her own and she runs off !!!!

Just practice and if he doesnt do as you ask its back in buggy. Thats how we got C to hold hands and walk by us and now she knows the rules to the point she tells her nanna if she needs to change sides to be away from the road etc

That's what we've been trying so I guess we'll just have to keep doing it. He was ok on Saturday. He absolutely refuses to hold your hand but is happy enough on the reins. Its after nursery we have the biggest problem because there are concrete steps opposite. Even if you put him down near the car (which is across a field) he'll run all the way back. I normally let him climb them once, then tell him we have to go, then give him a warning. After that it normal ends up with him wriggling under my arm throwing a tantrum as I've taken him away. I'm hoping he'll learn soon. I think we'll probably let him walk pretty much all the time while we're away as we won't actually be in a rush to do anything so he should get a chance to practice going the right way then
