PostSubject: Glasses on toddlers   Glasses on toddlers EmptyThu Mar 01, 2012 6:49 am

Hi, just been told by eye specialist today that Liam needs to wear glasses all the time until his right eye gets stronger. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of glasses on toddlers as I really don't think it is going to be easy keeping glasses on him!! xx

My nephew has had to wear them since he was three to correct his right eye turning outwards. They gave him some bendy glasses that were really hard to break, tbh after the initial novelty of playing with them wore off he was fine with them. They went through a couple of weeks where he kept taking them off but you just ave o persist in putting them back on. He's 8 now and wears them every day x

My niece has had them from a young age and like Mandy's nephew she kept constantly taking them off and playing with them....her first pair she broke within 1/2 hour of having them, after she got used to them she rarely took them off. She's 7 now and has to wear them everyday x

Aimee has glasses and was given them towards the end of last year. She has a lazy eye so they are given to her to make it stronger, so probably the same reason as Liam.

Its not easy keeping them on her and I do have to use bribery half the time. At the moment we have one pair, but we should be getting a spare pair next week. When we got them, they told us that they are used to them being broken, lost, etc. so just to pop in and they will sort out another pair/fix them.

Aimee has snapped hers twice in the last 7 weeks and we just take them in and they fix them there and then.

I am going to invest in some of those bands that they do that go all the way around the back of the head which are also supposed to help keep them on.

Thanks everyone. Picked his glasses up Thursday afternoon and he has been pretty good with them so far, only really tries to take them off when he knows I can't stop him like when I'm driving!! Fingers crossed it continues that way!! x
