Jamie came off his brown inhaler for a week a couple of weeks ago because they wanted to try him without it. His breathing became awful, we ended up giving him his blue inhaler loads and they put him back on it for a bit. They told us to try again in a couple of weeks or so. Its been about two weeks but we've only just got his breathing under control from last time. However, I don't really want to leave him on steroids longer than necessary. The thing that really worries me is that we go to Cornwall in a couple of weeks and the nearest hospital is 30 miles away whereas its pretty much round the corner here. We were thinking we should just wait until we come back to try taking him off it again.

Do you think that's ok or should we just take him off and see how he goes. I can't help flipping between the two. I think I only go with the taking him off because the dr said it though and I'm fairly certain his going to end up struggling again if we do which I guess answers my question but then you never know and I could be pumping drugs into him for no reason

Could you wean him off slowly rather than just stop altogether?
I don't know how much he uses it, but maybe increase the blue and slowly decrease the brown? It might not be possible but worth a thought?

He has the brown twice a day so I suppose we could try giving it to him once a day and see what happens. I was surprised the dr just told us to stop last time as I thought he'd want to wean him off as they always did with the blue ones when his in hospital. The blue is supposed to be for if his breathing gets bad so hopefully he won't need that one at all

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The problem with our place is there's about 20 drs as its also a walk in center so we're bound to see one that has no idea what we're talking about. Still we can try
