Oliver seems to have the concentration span of a nit. I can litrally ask him to do one thing and he forgets straight away and easily gets distracted. Say if he need the loo, he'll go upstairs but then go to his room and play (still doing the wee wee dance!!)

I try getting him to do art, drawing, educational tasks etc and he will just loose total interst within 30 secs. Its drives me nutso. Is it normal for his age? I see other kids and they can hold down a task for a good 20mins sometimes.
We can get all excited about getting the train track out and building a little town litrelly put afew tracks together and he's off causing mayhem elsewhere My mums noticed it too. We have to ask him, sometimes shout at him to follow through of certain tasks for him to respond/react.

What can I do to exercises his brain and boost his concentration?

Tayla used to be brilliant but lately yes you just described her!
We are learning the alphabet, numbers, shapes, etc but found she much prefers to learn the fun way like on the laptop!
If u google 'phase one phonics' it will lead to loads of good games, my friend who is a reception teacher told me about it. Try that

Thanks hun. He is really good with his alphabet..numbers..colours and he did learn a lot of that through my ipod etc. But ask him to hold a pen and actually write/draw something that's.my worry as he need reminding how to actually hold a pen. He can write his own name brilliant but can't seem to draw simple things like a house or person and its getting me worried

Then the general 'go put your shoe away' 'go for a wee oliver' he'd always rather.do something else ghrr!!

I really wouldnt worry! Their not expected to be able to write or anything before they start school. He sounds clever to me
No advice about the distraction thing tho as Tays the same its a nightmare! Trying to makes things a race seems to work tho, like 'lets see who can do so and so the fastest...ill beat u!' And must admit i threaten some times like quick before the monster comes lol!
