Isla is driving me crackers!

She has been great going to bed for about a year now, all of a sudden she is crying and moaning when I put her to bed (upsetting Jess too)

Do I just ignore her, or am I missing something and do they all go through this stage??

Libby's been doing it for a few months too (not long after Dexter was born - so attention seeking). We'll put her to bed, all is well until we shut the door and she'll crawl to the bottom of her bed shouting 'ME IN BED' until we go in, we used to go and tuck her back in, give her a kiss etc but now just put our head round the door and say 'bed' and she gets back under her quilt and we dont hear from her til morning.

Hopefully its just a phase Isla (and Libby) is going through.

xx

Harrison was fab a going to bed until we put him in a bed. Now if we leave him he gets straight out of bed and cries at the door. We find the best thing to do is leave him. Eventually he gets fed up and puts himself back in bed and goes asleep. Most of the time tho either me or oh sits on his bed till he goes to sleep which is about 5 mins most days. Lewis doesnt bother tho and they share a room x

Izzy went through it recently - and is again back to normal

What I do is hold the door - if she can't get out she gives up...otherwise she would have been up hours! At first she went mad, banging and throwing everything in her room...and each day it got less and less...to the point now she either doesn't get out or just tries the door and then gets in bed!

I actually have to have my dressing gown tie around the door handle lol, and pull it tight and then stand on the stairs with it - so when I can hear she is in bed and going off I can let go and creep down the stairs...our house is the creakiest ever and trying to get down the step by her room, through the stairgate with our her hearing was impossible! Once she is asleep I can go up there and even in her room and she doesn't wake, but for the first few minutes she will wake if she hears me!

Dan suggested we put a lock on the door which I thought was not nice at all, this way the door is closed and she can't get out, but the minute I go down the door opens again, so if she wakes she can get out - I'd hate her to thinkshe woke up and couldn't get out

Imogen went through this a couple of weeks ago. We tried all different methods with her but in the end I don't think it was anything we actually did she just went back to sleeping well again. Isla.....arrggghhhh ! 548646

We put Caitlin in a bed (well took the cot side off the cotbed) a few weeks ago and I thought she would be a nightmare but she has been fine - kinda lol.

I have a stairgate on her door and I just leave her door open so she can see out. When she falls asleep I close it. Yes she does complain at bedtime but I tuck her in once. She usually gets straight back out but I repeat goodnight, shut the gate and walk off. She may potter about room but there only a few soft toys in there & thankfully she hasnt decided to open drawers yet. She also shouts at gate but thats ignored. Generally she gets the hint and lies and talks crap for half an hr before falling asleep in her bed.

I think ignoring is best as all you are teaching her is if she whinges she gets extra attention/mummy time. In saying that there was one night Caitlin moaned/shouted mummy every so often for an hr and I went to check and she had pooped Doh as soon as I changed her she went straight to sleep - I felt crap!
