Moved into the big bed last night _
PostSubject: Moved into the big bed last night   Moved into the big bed last night EmptySat Aug 21, 2010 12:01 am

Well as the title says, we put Chloe into her big bed last night, we've had the bed up in her room for a couple of weeks with the cot now so she's had time to get used to it. She was really good, only got out once almost straight away and then we put her back in and she went to sleep really quickly and stayed there until 7.40 this morning. So that's good news

On the down side, I've had trouble putting her down for her nap this afternoon, she wouldn't stay in it, I've been up and down the stairs like a yo yo, she's eventually given in through sheer exhaustion but hopefully it'll get better.

What have other people's experiences been of moving LO into a bed?

That sound great Mandy, good idea about putting the bed up 1st and leaving it a while before doing the big swap Very Happy

Little mans been in his bed over a month now and all is going well, we had a bit of trouble settling in that 1st week, but now he's so good.

As for the naps..he sometimes has days where he'll just nosey out of his window 5mins then straight to sleep. But others, like today it was a good 30-40mins before he finally settled (to busy playing Rolling Eyes ) I've learnt though, if I just leave him to it, he just gives in and goes to sleep, but if I was to go up all the time he see's it as a big game and does it all the more, I will go up if he gets upset, but I've toddler proofed his room so I know he can't get up to that much mischief lol. Also, if he doesn't settle in the 1st 45mins and is insistent on playing..I just get him up and bring him down, cos I know there's no way he's gunna sleep.

I'm sure she'll grow out of the messing around at nap times, suppose its cos its all new. Good luck Wink

I really really want to do it. I just don't trust OH to close the stair gate. Rowan goes straight for the stairs when he gets up every single time.

Thanks Zee, I think you're right about making it worse by going up there, she can't hurt herself really in her room so I think I'll just leave her to it tomorrow.

Good luck Lisa when you take the plunge!

Kelly, can Rowan reach the door handles on the bedroom door? We close Chloe's door so she's contained in her room, or how about putting the stair gate on his bedroom door instead?

Yer, we've got a stair gate on his bedroom door (and top of the landing too) We only pull his door too cos when he wakes on a morning he comes to the door and knocks on our door and shouts 'ah da!!!' lol!
