Harry has normally had 2 naps, up to him being 11 months, then he just had an afternoon nap, and even then it was a struggle to get him to sleep. We've now started to put him in his cot for naps, being doing so for the past week, as normally before he just fell asleep on the couch (or sometimes the floor lol, but I soon move him!) Today though, hes just been singing and talking to himself and playing with the balls that are fitted on the cot He's been in there five mins and doesn't sound like he's going to sleep, do I leave him?? If so how long for if he doesn't fall asleep? I don't want him to feel lonely and I like to interact with him to keep him stimulated and not feel lonely, does that sound silly??

If he's happy leave him to it! He may just need to wind down - you could play music to him in the meantime and keep checking on him / lying him down so he 'knows' it's nap time. Bean goes in his cot awake and is usually asleep within 10mins (*touch wood*) and has been for about the past 4/5 months I'd guess - he has an afternoon nap from 2pm of at least an hour. He goes to bed awake too - but that takes muuuuch longer (30mins+) some times before he goes off other times he's out like a light! x

Thanks hun I want Harry to be like that too, but we got into a bad habit of letting him fall asleep on us/our bed, then putting him in his cot! But he's been doing really well going in his cot straight away now, as long as one of us is with him. If we leave him he cries until he's sick xx

Seeee This last week we have got back into the bad habit of bringing bean in our bed when he wakes in the night. With me waddling about with SPD and hubby currently full of cold it's the "easiest" option - after trying to shush him and lie him back down 3/4 times Going to try and break out of it this weekend... again !!

Wow lost this post for a minute there, lol Yeh that's how we got into the habit of having him in bed with us, but neither of us sleep as he hogs the whole bed the little fatty!! xx Having said that, it has been really easy getting him back into such a good routine with his cot, we've changed his room around and we are decorating it after Xmas so he gets more used to it being his own room! xx
