i wrote on my facebook earlier about it..so this is what i put

i can only start work from .8 .30 am as childrens nursery only opens from 8am.. on wed i start 8.30 am till 9pm.. and on a friday 4pm till 7am sat morning.. that shift isnt a prob its the wed....

but now the company i work for have said they cant accomadate the .8.30am start as the service users need me there from .7 .30 am .. i cant do this ..

Not sure what to suggest. Is there no one who can drop them off for you?

They might want to be careful changing your shifts like that hun, if those are your agreed/contracted hours then the words 'constructive' and 'dismissal' instantly spring to mind.

lisa i am looking as we speak for better hours.. but my kids are settled at nursery on a wed and friday i cnat change the days.. so it will be difficult finding a job that can give me those days and shifts later than .8 .30 on words arghhh

hun, if your contract states those hours then they have to give you a new contract, at which point they have to state new hours. can you put in family flexi hours.

apparently they have to give me 4 weeks notice of the change and im having a meeting friday to see what they propose to do .. if i cant accomadate what they have offered ..them im fudged!!!!

thats bad, I know how hard it is with nursery, can never get in when you want without waiting for months

Would you consider a childminder?
I used one with tommy and she was really accommodating when it came to hours!

They can give you notice of the change as you have said however i am wondering why it is suddenly a problem when it has not been until now? Is it a big company as if so they will be expected to be more flexible than if it is a small employer with only a couple of staff.

You could technically say its sex discrimination as in your view they are forcing you to leave by changing your hours x

because of the service user needs they have to have staff from .7 30am which i cant doo..they are trying to find me else where but other houses service users all start at 7am or 7 .30!!

i could use a childminder and there is one i could use but.. my children love the nursery setting and all it offers.. jamie is at the moment being assed by senco.. which i beleive will benifit him for when he starts school in september.... then i will need to switch from nursery to a child minder.. fro school drop off and pcik up ..but didnt want to till then x

i used to use a childminder for the early mornings and to take rich to nursery, then when he started school she would of took him but wasnt needed.
might help with the transistion to schools if the kids are use to the same childminder,
just a thought, but could help you out

I hope you manage to sort it out, it doesn't seemf air at all that they can basically change your hours to whatever suits them, you must have some rights

speak to hr or cab and see what your rights are hun as if you are contracted then they cant expect you to change if you have kids etc

Hope the meeting goes well. It seems really unfair if you have to leave because of childcare issues. I would definitly point out legislation on family friendly working hrs etc. x
