One can work it

I too think its very fair - there is no excuse for each parent to do half of those hours - wouldn't even need childcare to cover 12 hours a week each

Ack frig Rolling Eyes Doesnt affect me currently cos Stu still not living here full time so im classed as single, but he works 18.75hrs a wk and gets working tax credit including disability element, and im not working atm.
I wonder if he moved in would I then need to work 6 hrs (by getting a job outta my ass Rolling Eyes Laughing )to make it up or will they make allowances for disability. He would lose about 1/3 of his income. Maybe he will lose it anyway for not working 24hrs on his own.... He is such a twit for changing his hrs when I was pg....

I think Id just advertise myself in local paper for 6hrs cleaning if it came to it and hope mum/MIL could do childcare for free.

Saw a girl on news who was in wheelchair & had epilepsy and the changes mean her £ will cut/stop if she doesnt get a job in a year. Makes me feel grateful for my health and realise how much more unfair these changes are for others. The govt are cutting jobs but stopping benefit entitlement? Hardly fair.

I don't think its so much stopping benefit entitlement as trying to weed out the people who are playing the system. Im hoping they kick my sisters ass and make her go back to work cos gawd knows we have all tried and it makes me sad she sits home doing jack while im busting my butt and trying to be a good mum and wife. Im afraid i do agree with making checks more stringent. If the lass on telly genuinely cant work they will find her help i hope

Could stu consider going to 24 hours a week and see how he manages?

Mario I would have Stuart working 30hrs a week again tbh. It was Tesco that changed his contract and I know for a fact they would never up it again. It was an easy way for them to cut their staffing. They really wanted him out because of his sick record last year and an outside disability rep had to speak to mediate between them. Reducing his hrs was the outcome.
Have said before about him getting a 2nd job. Maybe the cuts would spur him on, but again there are so few jobs.

I agree with weeding out the lazy bums but I dont think we will ever have full employment, or even near to it. There are going to be millions of unemployed trying to get a few hundred thousand jobs. The Maths doesnt work... And Im not the most positive person about the employment situation in this country Rolling Eyes Laughing
