PostSubject: Too early for a bumbo   Too early for a bumbo EmptyTue Oct 26, 2010 4:55 am

My nephew is 12 weeks now, but when he was 9/10 weeks my SIL sat him in a bumbo, saying it was ok cos he can hold his head up. He was leaning to the side, and he didn't look very comfortable at all, and I thought it was a bit early for him to be in a bumbo, what do you think??

Sometimes its like she doesn't want him to be a baby anymore lol x

i think anytime is too early if the child cannot sit up in it as he/she should but 9-10 weeks is very very young

lewis went into a bumbo at about 3months, but he could support his own head at birth Shocked

people that try to force their babies to rush stages baffle me....i think baby i think bottles, nappies, sleepless nights

it seems alot of people think as soon as a baby is born it's time to get it onto solids, potty train as soon as and overfeed the baby so it sleeps all night(not directed at anyone btw, just a general observation)

I agree time goes so quick you need to enjoy them being a baby. Ava was about 16 weeks when I used hers, I wouldn't have used it if her head had been slumped. I think it depends on the baby though as Kenty said if they have good head control it shouldn't be as issue what age they are

I can't remember exactly how old, maybe 3/4 months, but she couldn't hold her head long so I always popped her against the sofa with a small pillow so her head didnt fall backwards!

Awwww see now she looks comfy in it, but Matthew doesn't and is leaning to the side. Harry and Asha (my neice) also held their head from birth but I never had a bumbo for Harry to use so he never sat in one. I'm not being awful but its like SIL is forcing him to grow up so quickly!! xxx

Naw im not having a dig semo. I used my judgement with c, will get a bumbo for this un but if they arent as strong as c then it will just wait. Id agree with you if they look uncomfy. She was just a stunt baby from the start lol
