in the last 3weeks or so lewis has become a little terror

he whines and cries nearly all day long if we stay at home, he's started hitting and pinching. if we tell him off he'll either hit lily-ann(poor lil mite can't protect herself) or us...tonight during dinner he screamed non stop(tbf he was tired) but he also smacked me in the face twice!! he throws things off the table, will throw things at lily-ann's head and everything

i really do not know what to do with him...i have tried smacking his hand when he doesn't listen to a warning but he's just smacking others more so have nixed doing that, he's only 1 today so still too young to understand time out.

any ideas? most nights i cannot wait for bed time!

When he starts the slapping/nipping etc I would put him down instantly with a firm No! and walk away, when it comes to Lily-ann I would remove him completely from her. He's not to young to understand time out..could maybe try popping him a travel cot, or another room (thats safe) for a minute, just to calm.
He is simply doing it for attention so its just not rising to it..avoid eye contact. Talk to Sam and Lumpy as you would and ignore his tantrum behaviour until he calms.

agree with Zee, every time he throws a wobbly he knows it will get your attention, so in his mind thats what he will do when he wants attention. the biting, hitting is frustration i think, prob because he cant communicate yet what he wants or how he feels and he gets annoyed. defo ignore him when this happens, dont even acknowledge him - im sure it will pass xx

i will try doing that...but what about when we are out???

he proper screamed for 2hours solid, only stopping to take a few bites of food and then went back to screaming...obviously i can't remove him from the situation and i don't want to annoy other people but at the same time i don't wanna give in to him

Frig everyone else!
Oliver can get narky if he's in his pram for any length of time such as shopping..but if he starts getting highrate I just get the job done and get out. Usually a change of scenery works, or just getting him out of the pram for a little walk works too. Olivers problam, and I can imagine most kids are the same..is he hates walking at a snails pace. But I do find a distraction such as a drink or some nibbles works well too. I don't see this as giving in, as I use this before he gets ultra narky but it can bide me some time to get the job done. Smile

he's the perfect little angel when out in the pram or car...it's when we stop to do lunch or something that he kicks off, he refuses any snacks, foods or distractions and just screams Sad
