Free eye care ? _
PostSubject: Free eye care ?   Free eye care ? EmptyThu Aug 26, 2010 3:48 am

I just wondered, is it still the case that you get free eye care until baby is a year old ? If so, is it just the test that free or do you get free glasses too ?

I know when I tried to claim JS a few yrs ago, I couldn't get it because my partner earned more than was allowed, I don't work atm but I'm not sure if it works the same way or not.

Can anyone help ?

the test is free and you can get glasses worth £30

or if you want different ones. say for £80 you will still get £30 voucher but will need to make up the rest

this is in spec savers by the way x

Ah my test will be in Vision Express. With any luck theirs is the same, I plan to get contact lenses anyway so prefer not pay loads for glasses I won't wear lol

yes we are on income support and its exactly what marie said. you are alloed upto the value of £30 for free, and if you go over you have to pay the difference yourself.
as far as i am aware this is with any opticians.
my sister got hers from a local family run opticians a few months ago and she chose playboy ones. they were £70 but because she was a student and didnt work she only had to pay £40.
whereas me and my oh went about 6 months ago and both needed glasses but we just chose the cheap ones so got them for free
hope that helps x
