Why the hell do people feel the need when your kid is bawling their head off feel the need to say something. The sarky comments or 'well meaning advice' does my head in the most but walking round coop with c today she decided to go into meltdown, its cos she got up at 540 this morning and is tired so little i could do but do my shopping and take her home for a nap. In the time im in there two total strangers went up to her and went 'oh its not that bad is it?'

Cos thats just what my tired fed up screaming toddler needs...F*CKING STRANGERS FREAKING HER OUT

Idiots

Its the unsolicited advice and the looks i hate too. Often if its cos shes tired and theres nowt else i can do i give her a kiss and say right cmon lets get finished and home then cos stopping every 2 mins to comfort her prolongs getting home to put her to bed. So ppl just assume im ignoring my screaming toddler. Though if shes just being a snotbag sometimes i am just ignoring her cos paying attention to it makes it worse.

I hate the looks and advice i get then like im doing something terrible letting my child actually cry in public how very fecking dare i, think its worse cos i refuse to do the embarrassed half smile thing. Having a mardy kid doesnt make you a bad parent so feck off the lot of you, you sanctimonious barstewards!!! See my flag? See it?

Some bird came up in town last week when c and i were having a 'spirited discussion' regarding the pros and cons of wearing a hat in zero degree weather and C didnt feel i had a valid point of view. She starts giving me advice....in spanish. Dont speak a fecking word of it. So i tried the whole saying loudly and slowly (cos it makes it easier to translate huh???) I DONT UNDERSTAND YOU, while my BIL to be is stood next to me pissing himself. IN the end i turned my back on her. Arses

And dont get me started on ppl who try and touch my kid without beng given permission. Scuse me when you grow her and have her hauled out your belly you get the right to touch her, til then feck OFF!

Neils actually moved us to a safe distance before cos he thought id start a fight in the street when some smelly woman started leaning in her buggy

I had this yesterday with various comments including "someones not happy", "maybe she is tired", "have you tried...." etc etc all implying that i am mean/crap mummy to be bringing her to the shops. Yes that is all well and good but if i dont get any food shopping then she will be starving and she will really have something to have a tantrum about then!!

Oh and then while i was packing the shopping i turned around and a random woman in the queue was stroking Lily's pigtails Shocked Evil or Very Mad

OMG these stories are winding me up!!! How DARE they touch them?!?!?!?

Mario, I'm the same hun, Libby gets a right evil madam when she goes in her pushchair so will bascially cry/moan/whinge when she's in it (hence why she doesnt go in very often) and people often laugh at her, say 'awww' or say something like 'oh dear someones not very happy', why cant they just ignore it???

I must be really weird I think coz I like it when people talk to my kids scratch it's usually a good distraction for them and shuts them up momentarily to give my brain a rest. Also a nice chance to show them off Very Happy. Old people are usually really cute and will chat away for a minute or two. Now and then they give them little presents like an old woman once opened a packet of biccies in her trolley and gave Thomas one, no she didn't ask me first but I thought it was cute of her - she didn't mean any harm. I don't get out much so any adult conversation is fine by me Embarassed Laughing

It has never really occured to me that people are judging me or being 'sanctamonious' when they make comments, I just thought they were trying to help/sypathise in their own weird way. I actually think I have been guilty of the 'awww is somebody tired' comment Embarassed but I certainly didn't mean they shouldn't have brought them shopping - just my odd way of showing that I can sympathise F*cking stupid ass ppl 548646.

Old people tend to be guilty of the head stroking type behaviour too but again it doesn't bother me, it's not as if they are gonna hurt/infect them Shocked

I honestly didn't realise people had a problem with it - I might think twice next time I speak to a child in public incase it upsets the parents Neutral

Im with you here! I sometimes say ' ah bless here, is she tired?' etc, but i actually say it to try and put the parents at ease, cos i normally back it up with 'ive got one of those at home' blah blah....

Saying that, im not keen on space invaders, or touching, or comments like 'you should just......blah blah......'

Haha Lisa - I do the 'Ive got one at home' thing too Laughing

The only thing that winds me up really is if you go out to eat in a 'child friendly' restaurant and your child plays up a bit and you get 'the look', tutting or eye rolling Rolling Eyes. If you don't want kids around you then don't go to a pub with a wacky warehouse attached or friggin pizza hut! argh!

Haha Lisa I do that too!! If a LO is playing up for their parents I say something like 'oh that sounds familar - mine's just the same' Laughing

My brother and SIL are just like that Debs - they get really stroppy if there's a whingy child near them Mad I remember them moaning once because they saw a woman BF in a cafe and thought i was digusting and they she should of gone to the toilets to do it Evil or Very Mad This was before I had Libby - needless to say they wouldn't dare say that to me now!!!

i quite like talking to people when im out and about, there was a poor woman in tescos nearly in tears last week as her little boy was having a full on tantrum, people were staring and giving her dirty looks and I stopped to have a chat.

i just don't like the personal space thing, ava won't take her dummy when she's crying so for someone to think they can do it annoys me, she's not good with strangers at the best of times.

Fair point. Im a stroppy hormonal cow at the moment and im probably being a biatch... Embarassed

Its more the touching and the dirty looks and unsolicited advice i hate more than the generalised comments. The touching annoys me cos if it was an adult it would be an invasion of personal space. I dont go around stroking other peoples face and hair and im def not a bump toucher with prego women so dont figure C should have to have random strangers touching her without my or her permission. And also to be fair i dont know whats on their hands. Theres a lot of ppl who dont wash hands after the loo etc etc so i dont know where their hands have been before they touch my little one.

The dirty looks just wind me right up instantly and the advice again cos i wouldnt go and comment on their dress sense or how they are conducting themselves and figure they know nothing about me or caelyn so why shes crying might not be anything to do with them.

I deffo agree with you on the restaurant thing though, why go somewhere like pizza hut if you dont wanna share your meal with families

oh the restaurant thing bugs the hell out of me! we went to frankie and bennys the other night and hannah was rubbing tomato sauce all over a bit of bread? who knows why but thats what she was doing and some woman was sitting scowling at her. I now wish I could turn back time and start rubbing tomato sauce all over my face just to see the look on her face.
rubbing tomato sauce over her own food isnt doing anyone any harm!
