Mouth problem _
PostSubject: Mouth problem   Mouth problem EmptyThu Dec 30, 2010 4:20 am

Hi all

Hope you understand this and i dont go on too much!

Today i noticed that the gum between Robert's top 2 teeth hangs quite low and seems to be attached to his lip, does that make sense? I did have a quick look on google but couldnt find anything that was the same as Robert, i did find some sites that say that they have to have surgery to remove it, Ever since that i have been really worried. I did call the doctors to get an appointment but they didnt have but they told me to call back at 8:30 tomorrow morning.

I was just wondering if any of your LO's have had this problem or if you know of anyone that has had it and what they had to do with it.

Thanks

Is it like a tongue tie but between his upper lip and gum? If so I think it's called a tight upper lip frenulum. I think it's the same sort of op as you'd give a baby with a tongue tie. A little snip. Deffo go to the GP to see if he needs it doing or wether it's fine to leave x

tis nothing serious..the only thing it causes down the line is some gum recession...but this is way down the line. If it doesn't bother him now..wait till he's older to get it snipped. The dentist can do it lickity-split. xxxx

I'd not heard of this before but my middle and youngest have both split that bit of skin. It bleeds fairly and looks quite frightening but being in the mouth, heals remarkably quickly. Definitely see what your Doc says Laura, but there doesn't seem to be a rush. I'm sure it will be quite a simple procedure x

Sorry laura, I don't know about this, but it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about. I'd take Robert to the gp though just to put your mind at rest xx
