does anybody have an idea of tell tail signs of ear infections ? Louis has woken up just about every hour for the past two nights, he doesnt even realise hes crying most the time but he is crying with his pain cry :S during the day hes playing and literally a split second later hes screaming while playing hes just had his top 2 teeth come through but they arent the problem, also his ears are so so waxy to the extent where they have to be cleaned daily at the minute and when i rub between his ear and jaw bone it seems to sooth him ...hes also off his solids but yogurts milk and tea hell have ooh and quavers

our doctors was closed today but do you think im over reacting or should i take him tomorro?

avas got one atm and they're quite hard to detect because babies play with thier ears a lot, is there any discharge at all? ava's were bloody inside where they'd irritated her, she also started moving her head side to side a lot.

have you any painkillers you could give him for tonight, im doing calpol and ibuprofen as well as her antibiotics.

im giving him the stronger calpol from the hospital along with nurofen (advised amount) he is tilting his head but to both sides and both his ears are full of wax which is coming out runny then obviously turning to wax thanks for the advise hun ill be taking him tomorro asap x

Cud be and def worth checking but could also be more teeth. Stick with the pain meds an get him checked

give the docs a ring in the morning, its worth getting it checked, ava's ears have always been really waxy too.

Callums ears are really waxy aswell x Callum is like that with teething waking up crying etc so could just be that but i would get them checked incase antibiotics are needed x

im almost 95% sure its not his teeth as there is no signs and his gums arent red swollen hot or anything also when hes teething hes constantly in his mouth with everything he holds (as i took his dummy off him at 4 months) but hes not at the minute he just seems in pain and presses the side of his head against me he also has a cough and a cold in general x

Yeah i would defo take him doctors then does no harm better to be safe then leave it x

Thats what i hate with those sort of illnesses because just can not tell x

has he got a temperatute tamsen? avas been red hot and ive had to keep her stripped off, im not sure if thats a normal symptom of ear infections though x

no his temperature is fine at 36.7 ill definatly take him tomoro poor little guy hes so unsettled x

My little fella was the same a few months back. He wasn't really messing with his ears as such but he was waking quite upset at night and had a slight temp. Off his food and had sticky wax in his ears. I took him to the doc's, turns out it wasn't quite and ear infection but it was quite inflamed
Doctor prescribed something to clear his sinuses (the tubes between his ears and nose) along the lines of those saline nasal drops.

i was right not just an ear infection but in both ears got antibiotics n calpol x

poor louis, hope they do the trick soon, ava was a lot better even after a day of hers. x
