anyone own a heart rate monitor??? opinions on accuracy?


my treadmill tells me that i burn 1500 cals a workout, but i've been doing a bit of studying and apparently the machines can be out by a hell of alot...some upto 50% out either way.

so today i spent £70 and invested in a polar heart rate monitor so i can get an accurate check of my calorie burn, how long i'm in the proper 'workout zone' that i should be for weight loss(too high and you will burn muscle, not fat)

The polar ones are really good, but you will need to find ut what your ideal zone is, for your weight and stick within that. Mine was about 155 BPM

i did a check and my weight loss zone is between 130-160 which is what my treadmill normally says im in anyways
