Need some honest opinions please, have had a trial run at making Lily a birthday cake, there are a few things wrong with it and it is quite amateurish which i dont mind but I don't want it to be completely shameful!! Do you think this will be ok (i am hoping my second attempt will be slightly better). I honestly would like people to say if they think it is poo poo as I will buy one!

Thanks girls, i will persevere and give it another go next week for her party then, i can always send Dan to the shop if it goes wrong The icing on this one was not great as i didnt do enough so there are some gaps in it. Then my icing bag split so the edge of the face went a bit splodgy!

Jo I got a cake tin like this for the body and then cut it up to make the caterpillar shape

and just made the plain sponge and also with a small round cake tin for the head. The icing is just buttercream which i piped on with a small star nozzle. I am going to get licorice for the antenae and minstrels for the nose and feet i think. Does this make sense??

I wanted to do grass and then add some really pretty flowers. but the monster are cool too
