| I want to get Robert a potty just to get him use to having one around the house before we actually start using it and i was wondering what potty you have got for your child and if you'd reccomend it. I thought it would be really easy to get a potty but there are so many different one's!! |

| Havent started potty training properly or anything, but i figured why waste money on an expensive one she might not use. So i got a cheap ASDA one. Not sure how much it was, but i did see exactly the same looking thing in Morrisons for £1!
We also have a musical toddler toilet seat from spain LOL. Plays some hardcore trance tune, very starnge, but Sophs loves it! She has even peed in the toilet once on it months ago but complete fluke!

| Izzy didnt like the cheapo potty - it wasn't comfy and she just wont use it so yeh there is a difference between the real cheapo and not cheapo (but that doesn't mean all toddlers wont mind sitting on a cheapo) , also some cheapos dont have the middle that comes out - which is essential for poos - tried cleaning a whole potty when they've done a poop in it or pouring a wee out?! much easier to have one with the middle that comes out! So she has the chair type from Toysrus, thats her fav but I wouldnt have bought it cos its not cheap (granny bought it) but also has 2 of the mamu bug ones, they are only £5 in argos now, were £13 - she likes these too as they are easy to sit on and comfy (also to add they can sit on these from any direction except the back, I think thats why she likes it as she can sit sideways and its fine!) http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3768246/Trail/searchtext%3EMAMU+POTTY.htm I'd recommended the mamum bug for sure! |

| Was going to say! I think the only reason we are doing well with potty training is because she loves to get the loo roll and wipe ! |

| Izzy is the same! She wipes like a maddun! Its so cute cos she does it standing up & bends over trying to see!
I give her a wet wipe cos she wipes so hard I think she will make her bum sore, but she says ewww and throws it! |

| That potty looks good lisa, though its out of stock in my 2 local argos and for home delivery. Wonder if its discontinued? I tried getting cpl dif potty sets at argos last week and they were out of stock too. Eventually got one at £4.99 from babies r us, its just a basic pink potty with no removable insert.
I was planning on just getting her used to sitting on it and then maybe giving that one to mums and buying a better one for here. Its not going too well atm but Im taking that as a sign she isnt ready. She just plays with it, putting it on head, putting toys in etc and when I took her trousers off and tried to get her to sit she screams and crys. Iv moved it to bathroom now and today she did sit on it (fully dressed!) for 5 seconds so I suppose thats something! I want her to learn that it isnt a toy (dont want her tipping poo on her head lol) but at the same time Im worried that telling her off for doing this is making her more scared of it.... |

| Thomas has a normal type and a chair type both from toys r us http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Bathing/Coordinating-Bath-Sets/Babies-R-Us-Ducks-Potty%280014984%29 http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Bathing/Coordinating-Bath-Sets/Babies-R-Us-Potty-Chair-in-Ducks%280014082%29 (he picked his own coz they have quack quacks on ) Although he will use both he does definately prefer the chair style one. This one is also a lot easier to empty and clean because the yellow insert comes out. He was also a lot more inclined to sit on this one before we started training because it was more comfy. What I would say Laura is make sure you get a potty with a decent height of splash guard at the front. The one Lisa has for Izzy looks great for girls and like she says she can sit all ways on it with no problem but little boys are a bit different. If you dont have a decent gaurd you will end up with wee down the front of the potty instead of in it. The normal one we have is a bit rubbish for this, Thomas has learned to push his willy inside now but we have had many times where he he has sat down and the wee still gone on the carpet . I also think the chair style are a little better for boys weeing because the way they sit on then means their willys point down more than the crouching type ones. Another tip is if you do get a chair type one, get a normal one too and encourage him to sit on both styles (he may prefer one to start with) because if he becomes attached to one style/colour/design etc it may make life difficult when you come to actual training time. My cousins little girl has one of those fisher price ones that looks like a mini toilet which is mega cute. The problem she now has is that she has become so attached to it she wont use any other and at £35 each she cant afford more than one so has to cart it around wherever she goes around the house and even to grandparents/friends etc. Hope some of that helps xx |

| Id agree that cheapos are great if they will use em. C wont. She likes the ones that are more like seats. She has a lindam one upstairs and a toys r us downstairs. Its 30 quids worth of potty in our house but better n fighting to get her on a £1 potty she hates |
