My parent's took him back to the vet the other day because after his surgery they discovered a bigger lump on his front leg that the vet said could only be gotten rid of by amputation. (which my parents didn't want to do unless absolutely necessary obviously)
The surgeon that removed the lumps previously wasn't skilled enough to remove this one but had mentioned steroids could be used. But that they were to see another more skilled surgeon for more advice
The second surgeon / vet / barsteward
said he'd be happy to put him down!!!!
(my doggy although he's got a lot of cancerous lumps is as happy as he's always been and as loving as ever, so he's not in pain or anything like that, if you didn't know he'd got cancer you'd never ever tell)
so my parents quite understandably told him to do one and that they would try the steroids (the idea being to shrink the lumps and hopefully either make them removable by having clear margins around them or destroy them completely) and he's had 5 doses now and they seem to be working!!!! all the swelling around the lumps has gone down dramatically so I'm hoping that's a sign that the steroids are working and he'll get better soon
*fingers crossed*
