Help! Advice Needed... _
PostSubject: Help! Advice Needed...   Help! Advice Needed... EmptySat Sep 11, 2010 12:47 am

My dad has just text me and asked if they (him and my step mum) can have Aimee for a few hours tomorrow.

I love them to bits, but last time I took Aimee there she was devastated and refused to go inside, so they basically just left her in the baking heat playing outside for 2 hours.

On top of that, James is having the car tomorrow from midday and wont be back until 6pm, so I have no way of getting her if she needs me.... which then brings me to the next thing...

If they offer to pick her up, I will be a bit confused, as my dad was supposed to fit our dishwasher tomorrow but said he cant as they have having my niece & nephew, who both are young and have car seats... so, how would they propose to do that as they wont all fit in the car?

And... (last one, I promise) she sleeps from midday until about 3pm and James spends time with her in the morning before goes to football, so I dont want to spoil their time together.

I just need to find a way of saying 'no' without causing any upset! HELP!

I have replied and said that James has her in the morning as he doesnt see her after that, and that she sleeps until 3pm so they are welcome to come to me instead.

I feel so bad, but I wont have her going there if she gets upset.

dont feel bad you've told the truth and from what you said it dont make much sense if she is spending time wit daddy and then will be asleep anyways. Ask them to maybe rearrange it

He responded saying he would speak to my step mum and they havent got back to me.

I will call them later and see if they want to come over.

Its just so hard, James see's Aimee for 1.5 hours a day (after work) and two of those days he plays football. Plus when he plays both weekend days, its important he spends time with her, so Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons are precious.

surely they will understand that! and if they really wanted to see her then they wud take u up on ur offer and come visit u!
and plus if she was so upset last time at being left with them then u think they wud rather spend time with her at ur house where she is going to be comfortable

I would just say that its a bit awkward tomorrow with James not there there other than morning, no car to use and her routine etc - thing is you shouldn't have to go into detail - the fact that its not convenient should be enough..but I know whats its like they cant just accept that!

They are now coming over for an hour later on this afternoon.

They dont seem to understand why they just cant turn up and collect her when it suits them.

On top of it all, she is on medication three times a day, which I prefer either myself or James to give her. I dont want to make anybody feel not trustworthy, but I would never let anybody else give her medication.

My dad keeps telling me to 'let go' and they are more than capable of giving her meds, as they want her to stay over night some time, but its just not going to happen.

They are supposed to be bringing my nephews and niece too.

I am about to put Aimee's dinner on and if they turn up soon I will be narked as she wont eat it with them all here and playing!
