| I'm in the middle of a hospital complaint after Stephen's birth, they've been annoying me a lot and messing me about. I was quite happy to just meet with them and let it drop but they've now really annoyed me so I'm pursuing it. Anyway, I got a copy of my medical records (which cost me £50 ) but having looked through them, I've found part of someone elses notes which includes their name and address, date of birth, hospital number, NHS number etc. Now I'm really angry about it but I'm not sure what to do about it. I don't want it swept under the carpet and I feel that this person should be informed but should I just let the medical records people know, or save it for my next meeting, or make another complaint? What would you do? xxx

Do you have a PALS office. You need to make them your first point of call. Its obviously a filing error but you need to know if it pertains to your case ie misfiled before or after the fact, theyare the experts

I would pursue it hun, I would make a separate complaint about it. I wouldnt use it as ammunition, as I would let the facts of both scenarios speak for themselves. As you know, this is my trust, but definately they need a kick up the arse!! xxx

All I want is for them to be straight with me but having got my notes I now realise they've told me a load of rubbish so far so now I've got a real bee in my bonnet! I don't want to get someone in trouble for making a genuine mistake but at the same time I know if it was me I'd be absolutely furious if I knew all those personal details had gone to someone else!xxx

You can complain to the Information Commssioner if you wish as its a data protection breach. Personally i would prob put it as a seperate complaint to the trust first and see what they say xx
