for elijah that is. he turns 18months at the end of november - i want to get him a warm coat (already has one but another one as a spare), a fleece and a lighter jacket......would you buy them all in 18-24 months or would you risk getting 12-18months?!

he could do with the jacket now as he only has one that still fits, so if its in the wash we dont have a spare....dont want to be buying loads of coats if he is likely to grow out of them....ho hum......what do you reckon?

I would get the bigger size hun - it's always better that they are bigger so you can fit layers underneath anyway. My mam got Thomas a 2 year olds winter jacket for christmas when he had just turned 1. At first I thought WTF? but tbh it was big on him but looked ok so he got wear out of it for two winters - bonus! Very Happy

I think with coats it's better to get a bigger size - like Debs says you can layer up and big coats don't look bad on!

I'd get bigger as, like Debs said, you're probably going to want to put things under it anyway. TBH I just don't buy anything in advance. We did it with a few things when he was born and he just grew out of them before we could get him in them

Seb is a couple of months ahead in season (March birthday). Last autumn/winter he had a thick jacket in 18-24 and a thinner lined waterproof in 2-3 which was thin enough to put turn-ups on the sleeves and is still in very good condition so will certainly last this autumn too. He also had a 2nd hand snowsuit in 18-24 which he wore for the winter when he was 9-12 too as his hands and feet didn't stick out then so we didn't have to bother with shoes and gloves. Hopefully it will do for Anna this winter too!

We don't have spares of coats - they don't generally eat whilst wearing them so they don't need washing very often.

well i ordered a fleece jacket for him in the end and a warmish looking one, both in 18-24, i decided you ladies were talking sense Laughing

elijah's favourite thing atm is sitting in puddles/eating snacks in the pram/diving around the garden so sadly his coat does spend some of its life in the wash! things change though and i feel better knowing we have sort of 3 thicknesses of jacket/coat to do til next year Very Happy

With Sophia last year, i got a thick jacket in 18-24 months, and at the same time bought a light jacket in size 2-3. It has worked out perfectly.

Think am going to do the same again this year(but obv 2-3 and 3-4, she is already in 2-3 tops and has been for months so think will need the 3-4 next year.), gonna buy the jackets probs end of september.

Mandy xx
