bath time question _
PostSubject: bath time question   bath time question EmptyWed Aug 31, 2011 5:31 am

Jamie is always trying to stand up in the bath at the moment. He has a couple of toys (a duck and a frog) and plays with them for a bit but then gets bored and starts crawling around and trying to stand up. At the moment we say no and sit him back down. We tell him if he keeps doing it he'll have to get out and if he does we take him out. What would you do? Do you think its worth trying to buy some more toys to distract him with that do different things. He loves bath time so its a shame it keeps getting cut short

I would buy a non-slip bath mat and let him stand up. You can still have fun standing, just keep close and hold a hand if he's not steady enough yet. You can get some good toys that sucker to the wall and if anything it's a great way for them to improve their balance.

Sorry no advice on getting him to sit down - both mine have been through that phase, in fact Hannah still is and Thomas has only just in the last few months started sitting down again Rolling Eyes

yeah i would either get in with him or get some elc bath crayons (elijah thinks these are both fun and tasty hooray for rainbow poos)

we also recently went back to using elijah's flexibath (http://www.flexibath.co.uk/ ) as he is happy to sit in this but wants to gallop around in the big bath, it's a good size as it fits up to age 3 i think so its still a big enough bath to play in (its quite a lot deeper than a baby bath) but much less 'slippy', we put elijahs in the big bath so splashes don't matter.

I remember having lots of bath toys for rich and swooping and changing them each bath time so he didn't get bored, also a mat or when he ran about in them, I think the stacking cups you can get he liked best, and bubbles, lots of bubbles

I've just taken Arwyn's bath seat away as she keeps trying to get out of it and I just let her stand now. I find it much easier to wash her that way now. I got a mat and I always have one arm out to grab her, so far we've had no dunkings!!

I get in with her a couple times a week now after my boot camp, once she got over her fascination with my nipples Laughing she's quite happy to just sit on my lap while I wash her Smile

Thanks ladies. Will get a mat and just let him stand I think. Doesn't really bother me but hubby's the one that plays with Jamie in the bath and he gets really stressed
