| I just finished mine today for midwifery. Just think why you want to do the course, what made you want to be a nurse? write about what interests you and any work experience you have that could fit in. Even if you don't think you have any i will.. i didn't think i hd anything to write yet i managed a huge paragraph on so many skills beauty therapy gave me that could be transferred to midwifery! Talk about the qualities you have that would make you a great nurse. sorry not much help i know lol! But i feel your pain |

| Its not a crime to have had other career ambitions - prior to being a nurse i wanted to be a vet but those aside what drew you to nursing. For me i left college without the qualifications to go into my career and took a job in a nursing home to make ends meet. While there i saw good nursing and bad nursing and realised the bad nursing made me angry because i was seeing people lose the very things that makes them human and i felt i had it in me to give them things like dignity, compassion and honesty as well as seeing them from cradle to grave. It needs to be fairly honest, if nursings something you are doing to pay the bills it will kick your ass see. You gotta wanna be a nurse or you wudnt stick at it with all the crap it gets nowadays. So id say think hard about whats making you go for this and why and use that to write it hon. Id love to be able to help you but its so personal to me why i do what i do that i dont think i could write it for you. I might hate my job but i also adore it and honestly despite all the days i threaten to quuit if you cut me in half id have *$%£ it im here to stay im a nurse running through me like a stick of rock Good luck, hope none of that sounds harsh |

| lol mario, i dont know what it is about it that makes me want to do it, i have always always always wanted to work in the medical environment, i love science i love maths, and i did sooo want to be a surgeon but was too scared that id do summin wrong so wanted to forensic pathology - cant go too wrong if they already dead!! (this decision was made when i was about 8!! ) i never wanted children - they were never in my plans, but hey ho life never goes to plan and i feel pregnant with scott at 16 - and loved being a mummy more than i ever could have imagined!! i tried childcare as i fort this would be an easy career seeing as how much i loved looking after my son - but guess what looking after 30 of other peoples kids ent all its cracked up to be!! lol so i had Holly and Kieran and have decided to persue somethin i really want to do!! its not just to pay the bills, as much as money is fairly important, its not a high priority of mine, you will always cope - where theres a will theres a way and all that! i just want to help people, i want them to feel as safe and comforted as possible in what could be one of the most vunerable times of their lives, i have never really experinced bad nursing, but i want to make a difference, evn if it is just to one person, its hard to explain i think - which is why i am having such trouble writing this bloody personal statement!! lol, and what do i say about my experience?? lol i have none!? im just a mummy - not that thats a bad thing - but you know what i mean ! lol i hope xXx |

| Its a very very hard question to answer I think. Im a vet nurse and when I get asked why I wanted to do it in interviews I always think erm....dunno really. guess my answer is I wanted to combine my interest with medicine with my love for animals. I did think about human nursing but it wasnt for me. If somethings drawing you to nursing then there must be a reason you just have to find the words to explain why you want to do it.
In the meantime is there any nursing homes or even your doctors surgery you can maybe go and do some work experience? I dont know how it works for human medicine but vets and nurses just ask practices and vet hospitals if we can go do some voluntary work for a while and build it from there.
good luck x |

| well its kinda hard to get experience due to the confidentialty thing and CRB checks, but we do have 2 work placements arranged through college, but due to the deadline from UCAS not sure how useful these will be for my personal statement, but will b very useful for interviews i think lol! also am at college 5 days a week, and am single mummy atm, and no family about so no1 to help with kids, so extra work experince would be very tough! but i think im gonna have to bite the bullet and get on with this personal statement otherwise im never gonna get anywhere! lol im think im just gonna write without thinking too much and see what i come up with and go from there!! lol but thanx for making me type something mario! good starting point xXx |
