My MIL just rang me (I'm at work) and asked if we had bought Libby a wooden train set as FIL had just bought her one for her birthday - we told her THIS SUNDAY that we had bought her one

I gave them a list with only 4 items on that all came from Argos so nice and easy for them but no they go and buy something completely different THAT WE HAVE ALREADY BOUGHT HER

Anyway they can take theirs back because we bought ours about 4 months ago!!!

And breathe - ok rant over xx

ahhh that drives me mad, we told all our family / friends to check with us before getting ava anything for Christmas becuase we've bought loads, so his SIL just went out and bought lots of duplicates and then got huffed with me. Why don't they listen????

I told MIL and FIL that I was going to buy Flick a doll and a tea set for christmas and the other week they brought her a doll and a tea set
Luckily I hadn't bought them yet but FFS! Its hard enough deciding what to get her anyways and theres 2 presents less from Mummy and Daddy x

I know we had it last year, that's why I did a list - nice and easy and straight forward...... for normal people

OK so had in-laws round this morning - for Libbys birthday because they are both working tomorrow. They bought the present round - it wasn't anything from the list and my parents had aleady bought it!!!!!!!

Then FIL gets all arsey because yet again he has to take something back!! Well FFS thats why we did a list!!!!!!

Then I nearly said about the list but MIL piped up and said they couldn't anything - well thats a blatant lie because i looked on Argos and EVERYTHING was in stock - seriously do they think we're fecking stupid?????

The thing that annoys me more is I could see that my parents felt guilty because thats what they're like, but it's his frigging fault!!!!!!!

Oh what a pain in the arse your fil is.
When it comes to Christmas etc I get my family to give me the money and I buy stuff for them. Don't get in any arguments that way lol although it's a pain but atleast I know the boys are getting what they want and not rubbish or duplicates! x

Your FIL sounds like an arse! It's not like you did a list to be awkward it was to avoid probs like this!

Deep joy. Luckily my parents let me know what they are getting C or ask me and i tell them one specific thing and it seems to work but what a pain for you. id do as kell says and ask to have money put in her card from now on

I think I will, the trouble is my FIL is such a dickhead and he doesn't like 'being told what to do' so asking for money will fall on deaf ears even though it's for HIS benefit not ours, if it makes it easier for him then surely thats a good thing??

Next year we're not going to bother with a list, if they cant be arsed to get anything of it because it's too much hassle (they never leave this poxy town, even though Argos is only 6 miles away!!!) then whats the point? If they get something next year that shes already got then tough shit!!!!

I think the thing thats annoyed me most is the blatant lie that they couldn't get anything - they just couldn't be arsed!!!
