i took alfie to time for rhyme this mornign and i know babies develop at different rates but its now got me worried sick that alfies now developing like he shud be. hes 7 months now and wont sit by himself. he also doesnt like playing with toys (he just looks at them) and prefers to just look around the room. all the other babies were sitting playing with there toys shuffling around, smiling and alfie just lay there on the flow frowning at everything and everyone. i kept trying to get him to play with toys but he just kept dropping them ion the ground and throwing a little hissy fit :-(

am i silly to be bothered? thats part of the reason i hate these groups!

I wouldn't worry hun, some babies just like to take in whats going on around them, do you go to these groups regularly as if it is something new to him he might not want to join in just yet xxx

like the others have said , he'll get there in his own time, by the time they get to one they're all pretty much at the same stage. Enjoy the peace while you can!

I agree hun, kids vary massively at this age and some seem to be able to do more than others, I wouldn't worry just yet

it might have just been a bit of an off day, or like others said, he might have just wanted to have a look around and make sure his mummy was still there! elijah is like that at some groups (depending on how hungry/tired/bored he is) and other times he is really sociable so i wouldn't worry at all - *im* like that at groups too haha Very Happy
