I got a letter the other day from tax crdits saying they're paying a lump sum between now and end of Jan, then the rest of the usual monthly payments between now and April will be slightly lower to take this payment into account.

Why? I don't see the point

No idea...we've not had any CTC for months cos they want us to confirm Dan self employed earnings, but he hasn't given me the figures yet

No, we havent. I had a letter recently (as we changed our circumstances after having Lily) which was just increasing our monthly amounts, not doing any lump sum, etc. x

Thats really strange. Maybe give them a ring see what it's about.

It is odd..I don't get it I wouldn't mind but we budget everything (I know, very boring lol) and them doing this is just messing my finances up and making me have to re calculate everything - Grhhh!!

They wrote to us and said they need to have figures by Jan 10th and then they'd give us what we owed since September..oh well at least we'll get 4 months at once...woo £160!

Why'd did you need to update in Sept? Is that when you started back in education? Sorry if i'm being nosey lol I hope you get the back pay anyway. x

I'd rather leave my payments as they are.. It says something to do with next years systems ???

It was when I left iNet, started college and my pay dropped

BUT they know my figures from last year...its Dans they want confirmed but they'd been fine paying it til i called to say I had changed work...very odd!

Yer, but I just think its odd they do this..why not leave it till April It say's we have nothing to pay back as the sum will be deducted from our usual monthly payments so we'll still be recieving the grand total that was originally shown on our CTC report

I did - it say that they are having a new system set up or something and that we won't have to pay it back because it's what we'd get anyway just in a bigger lump and then the other monthly/weekly payments will be smaller. Pain in the backside!!!

I got that letter the other day too. They said they are going to be making a payment maybe bigger than what I'd usually get and maybe on a different day to normal but all other payments will be lowered in accordance to that until April when there is a new system. I don't get it either why not leave them be until April?!?!?? We are on a very tight budget too and if I don't know what the new payment is going to be each month I can't re-do my budget sheet GRRRRRRRRRRRR

i got this to it said it was because of system changes they were making, im thinking its probably something to do with the VAT increase maybe?

i hope its not a huge difference tho that they give us in jan and then end up giving pennies for nxt few months!

That's what I'm worried about that they will give us a huge payment then only pennies until April. I'm already starting to save up in case that happens so I've got at least some money to buy groceries or anything else that might crop up. I'm planning on saving at least £50 as a just in case fund.
