what do you dress your little one in to go swimming? we just moved right next to a nice swimming pool (but the last 2 times we went me and hubby felt cold so i can imagine elijah will too).

i was thinking about getting a konfidence babywarma - we had one before but didnt get swimming before he grew out of it haha - what do you dress your little one in???

also, we were looking at the zoggs seat, because it might be nice not to have to 'hold' eli completely once he is used to the pool - any thoughts on them??? has anyone tried them?

Wil just wears a swim nappy and his trunks.

We went for swimming lessons when he was about 6 months old and they insisted on him wearing one of those babywarma things and he hated it. I think it was the restriction to his movement he didn't like.

We also had a seat for Wil and he didn't like that either. I found that he was too high in the water so his top half was exposed and got cold.

He just wears armbands and a swim belt now and has since he was about 8-9 months and he loves it.

We used the konfidence babywarma. They are ace. sophia wtill uses a baby wetsuit now.

Think you can probs det one chesper on mothercare and just as good quality.

Personally, have never used a seat for sophia and hae just held her but now getting to the stage where i think she would benefit from being freeer in the water so may invest in a float jacket thingy, not sure yet, just think she would hate armbands, but they are the cheaper option. (Sorry, off on a tangent therre! LOL)

we really liked the konfidence one, it was really good quality and a not over the head design so i would probably go for that one again - i remember being freezing in the pool a few months ago (well, actually probably a year haha).

maybe i will take him and see if he will enjoy being in the pool in the really shallow bit and if he likes it invest in a zoggs seat...hmmm i was thinking of taking him as a spectator just to have a smell and hear the sounds and things and see how he goes.

another question... do you shower your baby afterwards? eli is really scared of showers but i dont want him to be really chloriney...

some pools are just too cold for LO's...our local one has 2 and the big pool is definitely too cold...but the small pool is much warmer specifically for the kids

I didn't shower Izzy as she was getting tired, but just gave her a normal bath when we got home and she had napped

yeah i think bath later is probably a good idea, the bath at home knackers him so i think swimming will wipe him out for an hour Smile

well as you know Arwyn fell asleep in the pool Laughing

we used a warmer and swim nappies which i thought was a great combination, it made her much easier to hold in the water. and she didn't seem to like being in her inflatable seat/ring thing, i think like Wil it was too high up and she got cold.
my OH's parents bought Arwyn a swimming costume with a built in swim nappy which i'll have to use cos we're going on holiday with them in march, but i'd rather use the nappy/warmer combination again!

haha surely she could 'grow out' of that before march! Very Happy we have disposable swim nappies but these warmers also have sort of pull up nappy covers so its almost an all in one Smile will hold off on the seat then Very Happy

This is a swim belt
http://www.swimshop.co.uk/cid/NYOW3WTETVFW3F9L26QU9IVSYFSMCBKK/WIN-Junior-Swim-Belt-PJUNIORSWIMBELT/

Wil can't keep himself afloat with just arm bands yet he doesn't kick enough

He has this too http://www.swimshop.co.uk/WIN-Camouflage-Front-and-Back-Pad-PFRONTBACKPADBLUE/
but I wouldn't recommend it. I was a nightmare to put on and off and has a strap that goes between their legs that rubbed him.
