| I have 9 GCSEs, 3 A-levels, a BA (hons) in Business and Social Administration, MCIPS (post grad qualification in procurement and supply chain) and I am a qualified life coach.
I hate studying and didn't bother for any of my qualifications just breezed in and sat the exam except for my post grad where I rang my friend who was one of the examiners the night before and asked him what I should read on the train on the way there.
All the academic qualifications in the world will only get you so far because to do well its all about who you know and having the right contacts.
IMO my most important skills are common sense, organisation and the ability to network and influence people. |

| I have 8 gcses ranging from c-e (c's in the important things like maths and english), I then stayed on at school and did a gnvq in health and social care. After that I went to college and did an NNEB diploma (nursery nursing), not sure whether that qualification is still valid any more because i did it 1997-1999 and never got a job with children afterwards. |

| I am a thicko!!! I HATED school so couldnt wait to leave, didnt revise for any exams never did homework and came away with just 2 GCSE's (C in maths and french). I blame Simon as I started seeing him the december before my exams so obviously revising/studying was the last thing on my mind Since then I have gained a few NVQs but nothing really to write home about. TBH though I really dont regret not doing well or paying attention, we own a lovely home, dont owe a penny (other than mortgage), have 2 decent cars and a beautiful little girl with a boy on the way. I honestly cannot see how life could be much better. We believe in living within our means, although it's not alot whos to say we would be happier with more money? xxx |

| I've got 9 GCSEs, 5 A-Levels, a degree and my PGCE (Teacher Training) but earn much less than my oh who has very few qualifications but worked hard and moved his way up the career ladder so I don't think qualifications are necessarily always important! My brother has loads, is extremely clever but has absolutely zero common sense and I wouldn't trust him to be in charge of anything! xxx |

| Im gona sound like a humpy teenager - but is it wrong that I feel a bit miffed that alot of people with little/no qualifications have high paid jobs? I dont mean I begrudge them it - I just want it too. I clearly am not as motivated as them, & relied solely on exams/piece of paper. My mum brought me up to believe that education & exams were very important. To be fair i was quite bright in primary and she probably wanted me to reach my full potential as most parents do. Even though iv 10 GCSE's A*-B I still remember her saying I could have got 10 A*'s if Id wanted (possibly true if id worked my ass off and not had any friends). Again when I got the AB at Alevel she said I could have got AA, and my 2.2 degree could have been a 2.1 I know I cant blame my mum for me being unemployed now, or chosing to have Caitlin a year after uni rather than job searching.... but I just wish Id heard more about people starting carers at 17/18 that lead to earning £££ without the debts/pressure of uni. I went to a grammar school & that wasnt really discussed as an option either. I think i just thought I would get a degree and be earning loads of money within a year or 2 just because id a degree - which is clearly bollocks. SW isnt even that well paid for the fact it takes 5 years to do after GCSE. I think id start on £21k, be on £25k after a years final assessment. I dont mean to sound ungrateful about having a degree... I dont know what my point is, im just jealous clearly lol! Maybe some of the people who are reasonably comfortable with very little qualifications have partners or parents that make life slightly easier. I know jealousy is an ugly trait and its part of my personality im trying to change *sigh* |

| Snoopy, I completely understand it must very frustrating. However, we have got where we are (and I'm not saying we are well off by any stretch of the imagination!) through hard work. We had a 100% mortgage with our first bungalow - took a massive risk really because the property market could of plummeted but luckily it didnt. Our parents have not helped us out AT ALL, they couldnt afford to themselves. I do hope one day you get the job you're entitled to and worked hard for hun xxxx |

| i was a wild child - i never went to school, got in trouble when i did go, i woke up drunk in a different city on the morning of my german gcse so never made it there - i walked out of my maths exam cos i didnt want to take my piercings out like i was asked =o| luckily they let me do the exam in a room on my own, so i spent 15 mins scirbbling it down quickly so i could go home =o| i was an absoloute little sh*t! wish i had tried some, never mind hard! My head of year asked me to quit all my gcse's except for maths english and science, and i got banned from geography =o| but i said no to quitting them which i am glad of because i walked out of school with 11 a-c's. i did nvq level 3 in social care - but quit half way through because i moved into a dodgy friends house so my mum could sleep in my bed, smoked too much funny stuff to make it to college lol nvq 2 in customer services.... so hardly anything really - but i've got a sh*t job to go along with it lol x |

I just meant I didnt really consider other options and somehow thought a job was going to fall out of the sky. I also think I was a bit nieve about what a good salary was, some of the ladies on here have mentioned what they/partners earn and iv been . I know you & simon have put blood sweat & tears into doing up propertys so you deserve it. xxx |

snoop I hope you get your dream job soon xx Thanx hun. I suppose thats true. I cant see me being happy doing anything else. I know SW is quite pressured and it does require ongoing training but i dont think I could cope in a high stress business/selling environment for example. x |

| I have GCSEs, A levels, a BA degree in Politics (why??!) CIPD (post graduate HR qual) and another post grad qual that i have just finished to do with my job. If you do not already have a level 2 qual then at the moment you can get most things free at college and prob hep with childcare via learner support fund. If you are thinking about it then get in there quick as the government are planning to remove lots of free courses in the future |

| I have GCSE's all crap D's
I went to college and was studying Performing Arts, Media Studies, English Lit and Maths.
I met OH two weeks after I started and I left in Jan 2002 to move to London.
I started my job as an Office Junior in April 2002 basic photo copying, sending out post etc.
But from there and 9 years on I now run two payrolls and I have worked my arse to get to where I am today. I've no qualifications in payroll I was studying for it, but I hate hate studying, I've such a short attention span it's unreal.
I learn faster in practical work.
But I can not stand my work, It's not want I want to do.
But if you ask me what I want to do the answer would be I DON'T KNOW
I really struggle with things I want to do as I can change my mind like the weather |
