Would you send your toddler to bed hungry if they refuse to eat any tea, jamie is going through a major fussy stage at the minute after previosly being a good eater, even refusing food i know he likes. He is hungry because he fills up on fruit and yogurt after tea, so im wondering would you send your child to bed hungry, i just dont know what to do, i was gonna not give him any fruit yesterday but he kept pointing to the fruit bowl saying apple Crying or Very sad so he had an apple and a pear, i dont want him to have no food in his belly but duuno how to crack this problem, any advice Neutral

i will give in an give Alice fruit maxi, but i wont subsitute another meal just because she wont eat it.

i think at least fruit is healthy, she isnt allowed and treats if she doesnt eat her tea, and tbh we have been rationing juice too as she will fill up on that rather than eat her tea, so she doesnt get a drink until her tea is almost finished.

I know Alice seems to have gone off pasta and it was always a winner so now we are at stalemate as she doesnt like meat, the only sandwich she will eat is jam.

if it was leaft to her she would live on cereal and fruit!

I dont like sending Caitlin to bed hungry either. Im lucky that she loves her veg, so no matter what I make she will eat that part (even if it is just a bowl of frozen mixed veg zapped in micro). I always offer yoghurt after dinner or a piece of fruit and generally she eats that even if she's refused main part of tea, and I dont feel guilty as its not a treat as such eg yoghurt is calcium and fruit is vitamins - its not like you giving crisps/choccy.

The main meal Caitlin fusses at is lunch. Atm she often just eats a few slices of ham & a bit of fruit. I dont push lunch too much as id prefer her to be hungry for her tea if you get me. Does he eat a big lunch/snack in afternoon?

Also does he still take a bedtime btl or toast/pancakes etc for supper, that could help fill him if you worried and not appear that you giving in. I wouldnt start cooking dif foods. Just stick to offering fruit/yoghurt and then maybe a light supper. I think they all go through this testing phase!

I wouldnt say he takes a big lunch if i do sandwhiches he sometimes leaves them all but will then eat a banana atm i think fruite is the only thing he will eat without fuss, i know what you mean its not as if im giving him chocolate or anythink, i do him 5oz beaker of milk before bed but again hit n miss if he'll take it, he's had these fussy stages in the past but this is the longest one yet, i do hope it passes Rolling Eyes

Tyler goes through these fussy stages too - I think the main thing is to not offer alternative meals. If Tyler doesn't eat his dinner we just move on to what he would normally have for desert anyway (fruit, yogurt sometimes a biscuit, raisins and a bottle)

If he really hasn't eaten I will try and keep him up a little and then give him some toast but I try to make sure it's completely separate from dinner (so it wont be in his highchair etc)

I would just carry on with what your doing hun if he's hungry he will eat x
