i had my first check up last week since i had alfie (when alfie decided to throw up all over the room and the reeptionist) and he said he wants me to come back as he needs to do some x rays. But he said that my teeth are looking great and that there was no rush i could wait 6 mnths but as i get it f ree until alfie is 1 he would rather do it now.

So any idea why he needs to xray if my teeth looks great?Is this procedure after having a baby? Confused and slightly worried!!

Usually when they look mine via xray there seeing how deep a filling is. I have fillings i am so embarrassed about it, too many sweets. So i have banned sweets for good in my mouth.

Sounds strange to me, why would he need x-rays if they look fine? I had to have x-rays as soon as i was well enough after having Niamh as I'd had a check up when I was 10 weeks pregnant with Niamh and he could see I needed a filling.

Just sounds a bit like he wants the money with him saying to leave it 6 months, I'd go and get them done before Alfie's bday, if they are clear then you know he was just trying to get money out of you, if not you can get the treatment you need free.

I would say by him saying 6 months is advised by all dentition to have regular checks every 6 months.

thats way he said hes rather do it now tho? so i dont have to pay so it cant be because of the money. i do have a filling tho so wonder if thats got anthing to do with it - had it since i was about 10?x

Even though teeth look ok on the surface xrays show earlier if there may be need for fillings in the near future (so my dentist told me!). My dentist has x rayed me in the past just to be sure and i think on one occassion much to my dismay an x ray resulted in a filling that would have been missed if just a check up. I think it was before i was pg so nothing to worry about. He prob just saving you finding out in 6 months time that you did have a filling looming.

See it as a pre warning type thing!

Oh another thought! You got your wisdom teeth yet? He may want to check how many you have (I think an xray showed I only had 2 not 4) and whether there's enough room. x

yeah i thought it might be cos of your wisdom teeth if they are coming through? i had a checkup a couple of months ago - had a filling in one of my wisdom teeth cos it's so far back, but nothing to do with having a baby!

when i was dental nursing we used to do xrays once a year as this shows any signs of early decay, leaking fillings and the wisdom teeth x

I went the dentist a couple of weeks ago and he said to me that when I go back in 6 months that he will do some x-rays as I'd not had any done for a few years so I think it is probably routine xx
